National Registry EMT and Paramedic Refresher Courses!   CEU Blitz!!
March 7-10 and 14-16, 2016!
NREMT Refresher Courses
We will start with a National Registry EMT-Refresher course.  This is a 36-hour course approved by the State of Michigan.  An EMT will be able to obtain all of their CEU requirements in one setting.  That includes the new State of Michigan Pediatric requirements.

The refresher course is also a requirement for NREMT recertification.  People  who have attended an EMT class and subsequently struggle to successfully complete the NREMT testing process can attend this course to meet the requirements for obtaining three more attempts at the NREMT computer adaptive test.

A National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Refresher immediately follows the EMT-Refresher course.  The NRP-Refresher course is 54 hours and will fulfill all of the requirements for relicensure (including the new pediatric requirements.    refresher course is also a requirement for NREMT recertification.    course will fulfill the requirement for a NRP Transition course, which is mandated by NREMT to maintain your NRP certification.
This will be a small class of fellow providers attending and teaching the short classes to obtain all of the State of Michigan requirements for relicensure.

Who should be interested in this course?
  1. Anyone who needs to go through the relicensure process in the State of Michigan.
  2. People who are interested in maintaining their National Registry status
  3. EMT and Paramedic candidates who are struggling with the registry process.
  4. Providers interested in gaining their NREMT Status for the first time.
EMT Refresher Course
We will start with the EMT Refresher course.  This will start on Monday March 7th.  We will be meeting from 8:00am to 5:00pm. We will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday then take a long weekend and finish the course on Monday 8:00 to noon.

**If you are coming from a distance, we can have you do some internet assignments that will help you get finished on Thursday.

Paramedic Refresher Course
This course will start with the EMT-Refresher course described above.  We will continue on with the training through Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 16th, 2016)
These courses tend to be small classes with a few of us sitting around a board-room-style table talking through the material.  We will be running scenarios with model patients and high-fidelity manikins.   It is a low stress, comfortable environment.   When you are done with this course, you will have all of the continuing education credits that you will need for your next relicensure.

EMT Refresher $350.00
Paramedic Refresher $500.00
NRP Transition Curse $200.00
Individual CEUs $25.00/hour

Steve Huisman will lead most of the class along with an assortment of instructors who are part of the team at Great Lakes EMS Academy.  Classes will be taught at:
Great Lakes EMS Academy
1001 South Division
Grand Rapids, MI  49507
To sign up for the course all you need to do is call or email Melissa Huisman at the Academy.  She will email you the registration form.  You can register for the course in person, over the phone or via the internet through EventBrite.

After you have shown interest in attending the course, Steve Huisman will email you regarding the schedule and the possibility for participants to help present material for one or more of the topics.

At this time, the agenda is wide open and if you are really interested in presenting a topic (for an hour or so) you may have the "pick of the litter".  We will credit participants who help "teach" some course material $25.00/hour for their presentation time.  If you are interested in teaching, you can substantially lower the cost of the course.
Constant Contact and CEUs
I will be emailing people via Constant Contact about all of the new continuing education opportunities that we will be doing soon.  We are putting on these refresher course soon.  After that, we hope to be conducting several of the NAEMT Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Courses.  It would be really helpful if you would forward this email to your friends and family who are involved in EMS.  I think that might put them on our contact list (they would have to click a button). Just a reminder, don't forget to add Steve@GreatLakesEMS.com to your address book so we'll be sure to land in your inbox!
