Meet our 104th Partner Family!
Introducing our 104th Partner Family: the Puga Sosa Family!

Noe Sosa, Violeta Puga, and 3-year-old daughter Brigitte were surprised on February 2 at our office when we announced they were chosen to be the family for our 104th home! They were invited to the office under the pretense of filling out additional paperwork for their application, but instead were surprised with a celebration and announcement that they had been chosen for Habitat’s Homeownership Program. We are so excited to welcome them into the Habitat family!

This hardworking, deserving family currently lives in an overcrowded one-bedroom apartment because they cannot afford a larger place of their own. Their daughter is getting older and needs her own room and space to play safely. With a Habitat home, they will finally be able to gain the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need as a family.

Our Homeownership Services Committee and Board of Directors selected them through an anonymous process based on choosing the family that is the most in need of a home.
Save the Date!

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for our 104th home will take place on Saturday, February 27 at 11AM at 1108 East Hickory Street in Denton. Plan to be there to celebrate and bless this home - all are welcome to attend! Masks and social distancing required.
The Habitat Village has been approved!
On Tuesday, February 2 at the City Council Meeting, the Denton City Council voted unanimously to approve the Habitat Village Planned Development! This was the final stage in getting this project through the planning phases with the City of Denton. Habitat is now officially approved to move forward with the Habitat Village as planned!

Ruth's Room purchased our office building, and we are moving to the remodeled ReStore this summer!
On Monday, February 1, we sold our corporate office building (at 1721 N. Carroll Blvd.) to Ruth's Room, current co-inhabitant of the property and Habitat's largest donor! Ruth's Room will expand its operations there on Carroll, and Habitat Denton will finally consolidate its operations to one location at our ReStore at 1805 Cornell Lane following a remodel of that property starting this month.

“Habitat for Humanity of Denton County is so excited to share this opportunity with our long-time community partner Ruth’s Room,” explains David Johnson, Board President of Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. “The history of our two organizations are deeply entwined, and we are thankful that both organizations have survived the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and are advancing the strategic futures of both organizations.”

“After 20 years of partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Denton County and helping families realize the dream of homeownership, it is time for Ruth’s Room to become a ‘homeowner,’” says Bunny Hodges, founder of Ruth’s Room.
Future home of all Habitat for Humanity of Denton County operations at 1805 Cornell Lane:
It's been an exciting few weeks here at Habitat for Humanity of Denton County!
