Petre Pleasants White is the former Client Services Manager at Dallas Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and manager at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.  Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, she went to Crenshaw Senior High and studied Health Science at San Jose State University.  She is the founding member of the Dallas Hotel Concierge Association, and a CTA (Certified Tourism Ambassador) for the City of Dallas. A wife and mother, she is a member of St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church, a legacy member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Dallas Chapter and a board member of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre.

Jermaine and Whaketa Hargrove are the creators of Animation TV, a streaming platform focused on promoting diversity in the animation space. The Hargroves hope to expose people to all facets of animation culture, providing a subscription option and linear channel model for viewers.

AUSTIN — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott still leads Democrat Beto O’Rourke by 7 percentage points, 46-39, in this year’s race, according to a Dallas Morning News-University of Texas at Tyler poll released Sunday. That’s essentially unchanged from the incumbent’s 45-38 lead over O’Rourke in February.

Dallas County Reports 435 Newly Reported Cases of COVID-19 within 14 Days of Specimen Collection Date and 4 Deaths
 
DALLAS -- Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) is continuing to update and upgrade the data collection system. Cumulative case counts are being updated and will be reported at a later time. DCHHS is reporting 435 newly reported cases of COVID-19 within 14 days of specimen collection date.
A total of 6,441 Dallas County residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19 illness.
2022 William S. Mitchell Sacred Choral Music Workshop
Dallas Metroplex Musicians’ Association is elated to announce the upcoming William S. Mitchell Sacred Choral Music Workshop, to convene Monday through Friday, June 20 – June 24, 2022, 7:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. The Concert will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 4:30 P. M. Pearly Gate Baptist Church will host this endeavor. It is located at 6021 University Hills Drive, Dallas, Texas 75241, Dr. Thomas J. Payne, Senior Pastor, and Dr. Robbie Moore, Pastor.
During our June 8, 2019, meeting, officers and members of DMMA unanimously voted to rename the Sacred Choral Music Workshop after the organization’s Founder, William S. Mitchell, effective June 2020. While the pandemic has delayed our gathering for the 2020 and 2021 events, the renaming ceremony will be held during this year’s Concert.

PORT-AU-PRINCE — Security concerns continue in the metropolitan region as gang members hijacked two buses and stole the passengers’ belongings May 10, according to the president of a driver’s union. Gang members also attempted to hijack a third bus but the driver managed to drive away.

Student loan debt payments were scheduled to resume on May 1, 2022 at the end of a moratorium, but the Biden Administration announced on April 5 that they will extend the moratorium.
