Building the Vision for Edgewood
On Sunday in worship we talked about building the vision for our next decade of ministry at Edgewood, and how we need ALL of our voices and perspectives to contribute. The upcoming Cottage Meetings are an important part of this process, and we need folks to sign up as soon as possible so our facilitators can prepare. Cottage Meetings are for all members and friends of Edgewood, no matter how long you have been a part of this community or how valuable you think your voice is. We are looking to you to help us build our future together. If you have any questions or would like to participate but are unavailable those two weeks in September, contact the Dream Team chair Melissa Fore or Pastor Liz.

THE BAIL TRAP: AMERICAN RANSOM
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 4-5:30 P.M.
ash bail event at Edgewood
Money bail is one of the main feeders of America's mass incarceration system - and yet something most Americans know very little about. The Racial Justice Task Force invites everyone to an educational event about cash bail on Sunday, September 16 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Edgewood. The event should be interesting to people starting with no knowledge of how cash bail works as well as to those interested in recent developments in Ingham County.
We will start with a short-film compilation produced by Brave New Films called The Bail Trap: American Ransom which explains America's broken bail system. Following the films, Angela Waters Austin from Black Lives Matter Lansing will speak with us about the National Bail Out campaign and a racial equity analysis of the Ingham County court system. Discussion will follow. We hope you will join us for this event! Together, let's take action against cash bail and help end mass incarceration!
Tithing Team Request
The Tithing Team is seeking your suggestions on donations to local and nonprofit organizations from the 10% of our pledged monies from the congregation. For requests, we need information on the group or cause, an amount sought and information as to how a donation would fit in with the organization's budget and priorities, as well as a contact person, the address for the organizations, and any special information to assist in us processing the request and donation if granted.
The Tithing Team will be meeting on
to begin our initial review of the requests. We will present the tentative decisions at the Wednesday night program on October 3rd, 2018. The finalized decisions will be made at our October 15th meeting, if not sooner.
You may send requests to Marie Wolfe at
You are invited to join Circles of Faith, a small group ministry at Edgewood. Have you ever wished that you had a few people to talk to about your faith journey? Does God exist? How does prayer work? How can a good God allow evil in the world? We also discuss friendship, grief and other topics. Circles of Faith are small groups of 8-10 people who gather to discuss issues of faith and daily life. They are also a way to really get to know people, an opportunity to grow, and a time to reflect on how God is present in our daily lives. They are lay-led, facilitated groups that covenant to meet twice a month October through January. You can sign up on the pink sheet or on the bulletin board in the social hall. If you have questions, contact Pam Sisson at email@example.com
