Designed to mimic a true aeronautical chart, ASA’s Plotting Your Course fold-out brochure is loaded with useful information about how to get a pilot’s license and designed to pique the interest of aspiring aviators in a fun way. While this “chart” should not be used for navigation, it should be used to inspire and inform future pilots that their dreams are within reach.
Perfect for handing out at events, this FREE resource contains general information about the first steps to pilot certification, eligibility requirements, how to find and choose the right flight school, how long it takes to get a license, how much it costs, and how to get started. Additionally, readers will be introduced to basic ground school topics including airplane terminology, chart reading, aircraft systems, fundamentals of flight, airspace and weather, aerodynamics, and runway markings and traffic patterns.

Finding Carla
In March 1967, a Cessna 195 flew from Oregon towards San Francisco carrying a family of three: Alvin Oien, Sr. (the pilot), his wife Phyllis, and step-daughter Carla Corbus. Due to worse-than-predicted weather, it went down in the Trinity Mountains of California only eight miles from a highway and beneath a busy commercial airway.
Half a year later, the eventual finding of the wreck by hunters shocked the nation and lead to the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) now required on all aircraft and critical for search and rescue operations.

Results from the scariest thing you have seen from the cockpit
Well, the unofficial data shows that way too many of you have seen a "remove before flight banner" flapping in the wind (19.5%), or an "empty fuel gauge" (14.3%). Readers who saw "another cockpit" (15.6%) at least have someone else they can blame.
