B737 Type Rating Flashcards App

Written by Freddie Ephraim, more than 800 questions and responses ensure review of all the subjects a B737 Type Rating candidate will be tested on during checkrides, airman checks, and interviews.

Topics include: B737 general aircraft, bleed air system, pressurization, anti-ice and rain protection, automatic flight, communication panel, electrical system, engines and APU, fire protection, flight controls, flight instruments and displays, flight management system (FMS), fuel system, hydraulic system, landing gear, warning systems, and limitations. Answers and explanations were researched using FAA documents (which are identified so pilots know where to go for further study) as well as interviewing FAA examiners and airline check airmen. Pilots can review the flashcards by subject and mark cards to study as a separate group.

Find the B737 Type Rating Flashcard App at the Apple App Store, Google Play, and amazon appstore.

Overcasters®

For Instrument Training

Overcasters® are a lightweight, simple, and effective view-limiting instrument training device for pilots. With a frosted, clip-on visor that attaches to a prescription eyeglass or sunglass frame in seconds, Overcasters eliminate the discomfort of straps, helmets, or hoods. When flipped down, Overcasters provide near perfect simulated instrument conditions, and when flipped up, the device serves to mimic “instrument-to-visual” transition.

When not in use, Overcasters can remain attached to your glasses or be clipped onto a kneeboard, notebook, or flight bag for easy storage. Manufactured for flexibility and durability, Overcasters are widely accepted by FAA examiners for use in practical tests and checkrides.

AviCom 2024

ASA joined Greenville Technical Charter High School, Triple Tree Aerodrome, and the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) in Columbia, South Carolina, on February 23 for the Second Annual AviCom, an aviation education competition for high school students. Students from seven schools across the state participated in skill and knowledge based competition in the areas of Team Simulated Flight, Individual Airman Knowledge, and Individual Aircraft Recognition.

The knowledge and aircraft recognition contests were sponsored by ASA, and winners received aviation training kits and gift certificates for use at asa2fly.com to reward them for their achievements and aid them on the next step of their aviation journey. Congratulations to the winners!

ATEC Annual Conference

Last week, ASA attended the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) Conference at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. This annual event brings aviation maintenance professionals together with industry partners and the FAA to discuss current issues related to the aviation maintenance workforce.

The Pima Air and Space Museum is quite an amazing place. They have an incredible display of boneyard aircraft and a huge archive that spans several hangers. It was a little windy outdoors, but the Arizona sky provided a spectacular backdrop. If you are an #avgeek or someone who loves learning about aviation this is a must visit.

Just for Fun

Last month we asked readers how they stay in the game during months where IFR prevails. Here are the results: 18.9% of readers file ifr, 10.8% read books, 8.1% study for a new rating, 5.4% attend a conference, tune into ATC, read/watch aviation media, or get an IPC. 13.5% take an online course, use a flight simulator, or do a combination of several things. Was it hard to pick just one?

The following poll is for anyone who wants to participate. Your participation in the poll is voluntary.
