Celebrating 7 Years of Impact: Happy Anniversary, Employ Prince George’s!


This month marks a major milestone, 7 years of service, innovation, and empowerment across Prince George’s County and the greater DMV region! Since 2017, Employ Prince George’s has been dedicated to bridging workforce gaps, expanding access to opportunity, and helping individuals realize their full potential. As we celebrate this anniversary, we’re proud to reflect on the progress we’ve made and even more excited about what lies ahead.


In just the past year:

  • We opened a brand-new American Job Center Job and Resource Lab in Brentwood, MD
  • Launched transformative initiatives like Employ DMV, Employ Baltimore, the Equity & Economic Stability Department, and 4 Wheels for Work.
  • Hosted community engagement sessions to reimagine and redesign our Youth Career Center and the Bridge Center at Adam’s House, laying the foundation for inclusive, community-centered spaces
  • Integrated our Youth Career Coaches into more than 70 middle and high schools across Prince George’s County.
  • Supported hundreds of displaced federal workers through job fairs and career readiness workshops
  • Developed EPG staff to grow within our organization and advance into various leadership roles

Education Training and Assessments Department

The Education Training and Assessments (ETA) department plays a vital role in preparing job seekers for success in today’s competitive workforce. Through a wide range of engaging and practical workshops, ETA helps individuals build essential skills in areas such as resume writing, interview techniques, digital literacy, and workplace professionalism.


These workshops are designed to not only improve a job seeker’s confidence, but also to provide the tools and knowledge needed to navigate their career journey effectively. By participating in ETA programming, job seekers gain a strong foundation that strengthens their employability, increases their marketability, and positions them for long-term career growth and stability.

A Full-Circle Success:

From Job Seeker to Career Consultant

After losing her IT job during the 2018 recession, Kidest Kelemariam turned to the American Job Center, where she gained new certifications and on-the-job training through our Maryland Tech Connection program, ultimately landing a job.


In March 2025, after another layoff, she returned to Employ Prince George’s, attended our ETA Resume Workshop, and worked closely with staff to revamp her resume and job strategy. With guidance, she applied for a role at EPG and was hired as a Career Consultant in Educational Partnership for IT Careers (EPIC) & Profesi8onal Service Institute (PSI), starting May 29, 2025.


We’re proud to be part of Kidest’s inspiring journey and excited to see her thrive!

The US economy added 139,000 jobs in May, slightly more than expected

The long-resilient labor market slowed down a little in May, adding 139,000 jobs, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.

Last month’s job gains, which came in slightly more than expected, marked a retreat from April, which was downwardly revised to 147,000.

“Be the Church Sunday"

 Community Event

Our Community Development team partnered with Greater St. John Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, MD for their community event, “Be the Church Sunday" on May 18.” The event featured free gas, food, and other valuable resources for the community.


Our American Job Center Mobile Unit was on-site to provide resources on behalf of the American Job Center and Employ Prince George’s. Special thanks to Delegate Karen Toles, Delegate Kevin M. Harris, Pastor Kevin Gresham, his team, and all the elected officials who sponsored and supported this impactful event.

Oaklands Elementary School

 Community Fair

On May 24, our Community Development team had the honor of participating in the Oaklands Elementary School Community Fair in Laurel, MD. The event featured a wide range of community services, including healthcare sign-ups, information on rental and utility assistance programs, access to counseling services, and the Kaiser Permanente's Mobile Van offering various health screenings.


We were excited to share information about our Industry Bridge Programs—highlighting our Career Pathways For All (CPFA) program, monthly ETA Workshops for Spanish-speaking customers, and other upcoming events.
