VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - CAREERS CLASS
EPHS Careers classes are looking for guest speakers to share with our students about their careers. We always strive for diversity in our panel guests, in terms of identity and background.

If you know *anyone* (friends, uncles, spouses, children, neighbors, etc.) pass them our information, and have them get in touch! We have in-person and Zoom meetings available. We are happy to answer any questions, and share details about the format.

The students truly benefit from this experience, and they always have positive feedback. It’s also a great way to involve our community in the school.

THIS MESSAGE REGARDING THE PSAT WAS SENT TO SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS LAST WEEK:
WELCOME BACK!
The EPHS Parent-Teacher Organization is excited to work with teachers, staff, and parents again this year to support teachers, augment programs, and engage with parents and families to enrich the EPHS community! Each week in this newsletter you can find information about our upcoming events as well as volunteer and donation needs. You can also follow EPHS PTO on Facebook or check out our website (www.ephspto.org) to keep up with all our news. Questions, suggestions, and comments are always welcome at president@ephspto.org. We look forward to a great year together!

“A” IS FOR ACTIVITIES – TONIGHT!
Drop in to the South Commons Collab 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (on the first floor in the south commons hallway) to meet Russ Reetz, Associate Principal of Student Activities, and learn all about the clubs, sports, and activities offered to students at EPHS. Involvement in clubs and activities is a great way for students to expand their horizons, meet new people, and learn new skills – and they’re important for college applications!

ORDER YOUR STUDENT DIRECTORIES – by September 27th!
$8 each – order and pay online at http://ephspto.org/student-directories/
Student (family) directories are a printed directory that includes a listing of public, District-collected data with high school students’ and their parent/guardian names, addresses and phone numbers (unless families opt out of providing this information to the District). It is handy to have – especially for freshmen (much of the information stays the same over the years), and again as seniors as you are putting together plans for graduation, parties, etc.

SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR PARENTS – WE NEED YOU!
After graduation each year, graduates get to celebrate their success at the awesome Senior Party. It takes a whole village of volunteers to pull off this huge event. Due to the last two COVID years, we’ve lost our pipeline of volunteers so we’re starting from the ground up – and we need YOU! The EPHS Senior Party Committee is looking for volunteers to chair committees for the 2022 and 2023 parties. Underclassmen parents chair committees now so they can focus on their own child during their senior year. Check out openings at http://epseniorparty.org/volunteer-chairs/.

STAFF APPRECIATION DONATIONS NEEDED
It’s hard to believe, but the first parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner in early October. Conferences are a great time to show teachers and staff how much we appreciate all their hard work! This year, we’ll have a special treat – free chair massages courtesy of EverHealth Chiropractic. We’ll also serve some goodies to go along with the massages – but we need your help! Please consider a cash donation through PayPal at http://ephspto.org/staff-appreciation/ or send a check (made out to EPHS PTO) to the school by mail or with your student (dropped at South Entrance Office; attention PTO).

WHAT I WISH I KNEW ABOUT COLLEGE PLANNING – PARENT PANEL
Tuesday, October 12th 7:00 pm, online event
Don’t miss this popular discussion with experienced parents addressing everything from the college application process to what size dorm sheets to buy and all of the hurdles in between. We’ll also hear from high school counselors about some key college-prep items. We’ll cover many helpful topics and have time for questions and answers. This is a great meeting for parents of juniors and seniors. Watch this newsletter, Facebook, or the PTO website for more information and meeting links.
OFFICE OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES
EPHS offers a wide range of student activities including competitive athletics, intramurals, academic clubs, co-curricular clubs, fine arts, performing arts, and student government.
Information regarding competitions and games for sport teams can be found on the Lake Conference website.
