A Message from the Principal

EPHS Families,

I want to extend a special invitation to our next EP Connects on Monday, November 1 at 7:00 pm. We will be running a one-hour version of “Eagle Voice” for parents / guardians. Eagle Voice is an online platform where students and staff submit ideas to improve our school.  This year, we want you to experience a version of it, too!

This will be a truly innovative and engaging event. Here is a brief summary of how it will work:

  • On Zoom from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • 10 minute introduction & instruction
  • 15 minutes to submit ideas to improve EPHS
  • 15 minutes to vote on ideas you like best
  • 20 minute discussion of the ideas, results, process, and next steps

For the third consecutive school year, students will engage in Eagle Voice. Here is the timeline of their event:

  • Idea submission: October 25 - November 23
  • Voting: December 6 - 22

We’ll share much more on the student event after MEA. For now, I really encourage you to join us on Monday, November 1. I think it would be great for you to experience Eagle Voice...and, I want to see your ideas! Let me know what questions you have.

Robb
At EPHS, we want every member of our community to be able to answer "YES" to three questions:

DO I BELONG HERE? IS THIS MEANINGFUL? CAN I DO THIS?

One way that we achieve this is by living our 5 agreements. Your students have been introduced to these agreements in their grade level meetings that took place in September, and we will continue to focus on and teach about these agreements during your students' time with us. Essentially, we believe that when these agreement are embodied in actions and words, our community thrives.

While your students will be engaging learning about these agreements on an ongoing basis at EPHS, including in Connections and on other platforms this month, we also encourage you to find ways to discuss them with your student outside of school. We know our collective commitment to these will serve our EPHS students well during their time here and beyond.

EPHS 5 AGREEMENTS
  • We treat others with kindness, affirm differences and seek multiple perspectives.
  • We include each other and are responsible for the impact of our actions and words.
  • We positively represent ourselves and our school, in person and online.
  • We use all spaces safely and demonstrate awareness of expectations.
  • We arrive prepared, focused and ready to learn.

TURN YOUR KOWALSKI’S RECIEPTS INTO CASH!
You’ve probably noticed the boxes with the names of charities as you’re leaving Kowalski’s. Did you know the one marked for Eden Prairie Schools Staff Appreciation turns your receipts into funding for the PTO? We use those funds for staff appreciation events and other staff support throughout the school. Kowalski’s makes donations according to the number of receipts in the bin – so visit often and leave your receipt!

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR NEEDED ON PTO BOARD
Now that school is back in person, there’s a long list of volunteer needs and a long list of parents wishing to volunteer. We need help organizing and coordinating these groups so the right matches are made! If you’re interested in helping with this work, we’d love you on the PTO Board. Please contact president@ephspto.org for more information.
