STUDENT ATTENDANCE SUMMARY & PARTNERSHIP
As we approach the end of Term 1, we wanted to take this opportunity to partner with families on our framework of attendance support.  Attendance is one of the key predictors for students being on track for graduation.  We are here to partner with you and your child around any attendance needs.

What You Can Do
  • Talk to your children about the importance of showing up to school each day.
  • Try to schedule appointments outside of the school day, when possible.
  • If your student needs to stay home due to illness or quarantine, encourage and support them to connect with their teachers.
  • Encourage your child to join an extracurricular activity, club or sport as this has been shown to increase class attendance.
  • Communicate your circumstances or needs with the school so we know how to best support.
  • Regularly check the Parent Portal on Campus to review your student’s attendance records.
  • Contact the Attendance Line to excuse absences:  952.975.8001

What We Will Do
  • Student support teams regularly monitor student attendance, including excused, unexcused and tardies.
  • When students reach identified attendance levels, steps will be taken to identify the root cause of the absences and develop a supportive plan with the student and family.
  • If absences continue with supports in place, consequences will be considered by student support teams which may include:
  • Loss of privileges:
  • Lunch
  • Flex time choice
  • Junior or senior privilege
  • Parking permit
  • Athletic practices or games
  • Parent Meeting(s)
  • Truancy reporting procedures to Hennepin County.

EP CONNECTS ON NOVEMBER 1 IS EAGLE VOICE SIMULATION
We hope you can join us via Zoom on November 1 at 7:00p to share your ideas to improve EPHS! Read more about this on our EP Connects page. Eagle Voice opened for students this morning (each student and parent/guardian received this message).
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY ON 10.15.21
As you know, Friday October 15 was not a school day for students as our faculty engaged in professional development.  We wanted to share a brief summary of the learning we did.  We began with a “student-led tour” of the school where about 30 students led small groups around our building sharing how they experience EPHS.  We then had three session rotations.  Within each rotation, faculty had three-four sessions to choose from.  The rotations were themed on instructional excellence, racial equity & student belonging, and equitable grading practices.  The day concluded with time for individual department/course teams to collaborate.  We share this just to make our thinking visible to our families.  If you’d like to connect further, please contact Robb at rvirgin@edenpr.org.
BUILDING HOURS
School hours are 8:35 am - 3:20 pm. Daily entrance to the building will begin at 7:45 am. Students will be able to stay after school for specific school activities and teacher-directed work only. Students who participate in after-school activities may ride the activity bus home. The bus departs the high school at 5:40 pm. The bus routes and stop locations can be accessed HERE.
LOOKING FOR WAYS TO GIVE BACK?
Interested in helping your school during lunch time hours? Come for a new experience working as a food service personnel at our school. We’re looking for volunteers to assist with serving lunch to our EP students. Volunteer as much or as little as you’re able. If you enjoy working for Eden Prairie Schools, consider applying part-time as a food service personnel at edenpr.org/careers.
