A Message from the Principal

EPHS Families,

Every day, I am filled with gratitude for the support our school receives from our community. This is most strongly felt from you, our parents & guardians. Thank you for helping to make EPHS such a special place for our students. I also want to thank you for the support you provide me personally. This role is both thrilling and humbling, while ever-fulfilling. Your support has made all of the difference for me these past four years. Thank you.

As I’ve shared with you before, my family tries to live out the mantra we learned from my wife’s Grandpa of, “Family first, fun second, work third.” I sure hope Thanksgiving Break provides your family opportunities for family and fun. To support that, students will not be receiving assignments to do over break again this year. We are calling this, “Homework-free break for students and staff.”

Thank you for your ongoing support and enjoy a long weekend with your families!

EPHS ORIENTATION 2.0 ON DECEMBER 6 AT 7:00 PM ON ZOOM
Our December installment of EP Connects will have an “orientation” feel. It will be led by EPHS counselors and principals. All are welcome, and families new to EPHS this year are highly-encouraged to attend. To help make the presentation meaningful and helpful, please share any questions or topics you would like to see included using this form. We hope to see you on the 6th!
EAGLE VOICE
The last day for students to submit ideas is Tuesday! They can find links in grade-level Schoology courses and their school email. We want to hear their ideas, both big and small. We’re particularly interested in ideas that might help us fulfill our vision of each student answering “Yes!” to our first driving question of, “Do I belong here?” Voting on ideas begins December 6.
MOCK INTERVIEWS
We are looking for industry professionals to conduct one-on-one mock interviews with our Senior Interns on Wednesday, December 8 either virtually or in person. You would conduct individual interviews with 3 students and give each student feedback on their effectiveness in the interview. Volunteers are needed from 8:20 am - 10:00 am and/or from 9:50 am - 11:30 am.  If you can help, you may sign up using this link, Interview Volunteers, and we will follow up with a detailed confirmation.

If you have additional questions, please email Karen Brettingen at kbrettingen@edenpr.org

MICRO-INTERNSHIP PROJECTS NEEDED
In December, our Senior Interns learn project management skills by working on a micro-internship. A micro-internship is a short-term professional assignment allowing students to develop technical skills and explore career areas. This project could be actual work a business would like to get accomplished or could be in a case study format. Would you be willing to create a micro-internship project/case study for our interns? The engagement will run from mid-December to mid-January. We’re estimating, in addition to taking time to create the micro-internship proposal, this would require approximately four to six hours of your time.

Email Karen Brettingen at kbrettingen@edenpr.org if you’re interested in getting additional information about this volunteer opportunity!
EPHS PREVIEW NIGHT I DECEMBER 9 I 7:00 PM
Every student in Eden Prairie should be able to experience the excellent academics and opportunities available exclusively in our school district. On Dec. 9 at 7:00 pm, Eden Prairie High School will host a Preview Night for students and families that are considering EPHS and Eden Prairie Schools. If you are familiar with the high school, this Preview Night might not be for you. It is an introduction to EPHS and Eden Prairie Schools, and is separate from the course selection process for the 2022-2023 school year. Information about high school courses and options will be communicated directly to families and students starting in January.

PARENTS: RECOGNIZE YOUR SENIOR / PURCHASE A YEARBOOK AD
Attention senior parents! The deadline to purchase an ad to recognize your senior student in the yearbook is quickly approaching. All ad orders are due by December 1st. Purchasing an ad is a fun way to show your support and have it permanently on display in the yearbook. Information is included in the attached flyer or you can go to www.jostensadservice.com
STAFF APPRECIATION DONATIONS NEEDED
It’s the season of giving AND saying “thank you!” The PTO will host a special appreciation meal on December 15th to give teachers a boost during the long parent-teacher conference day and to show our appreciation during the holidays. You can help with a cash donation for food, beverages, goodies, and holiday cards. Visit ephspto.org/staff-appreciation/ to donate with PayPal or send a check to the school by mail or with your student. (Make check payable to EPHS PTO and drop off at South Entrance Office or mail to the school. Please include “attention PTO” on envelope.) Thank you for your generosity!

STUDENT DIRECTORY ORDERS
If you ordered a student directory earlier this year, your student should have brought it home by now! They were distributed to their Connections teachers a couple weeks ago so be on the lookout! We have a few extra to sell if you didn’t order and would still like one ($8 each). Please contact president@ephspto.org for orders or delivery issues.
