A Message from the Principal

Dear Eden Prairie High School Families,

May is here and that brings two big topics to the top of mind for me.  The first is seeing our seniors across the finish line and celebrating them as they do.  At 7:00 pm tonight, I’ll be hosting a virtual info session for parents of seniors on some milestone events in the weeks ahead–from Prom to our Graduation Ceremony to sending final transcripts off to your next destination.  The link to join can be found here on our EP Connects webpage.

On Wednesday during 4th period, Seniors will head to the Main Gym for Senior Decision Day.  This is an opportunity to celebrate the work they have done to get to this point, their plans for the next leg of their journeys, and relay important messages for the weeks ahead.  Ben Johnson from the University of Minnesota will talk with our students about the legacies they can create, we’ll take a class photo, Crumbl Cookies will be provided, and senior yard signs will be available for pickup.  It should be a lot fun–thanks to our Student Council and College & Career Center for planning it!

The other topic I’m prioritizing right now is supporting all of our students with a strong finish to the school year.  We want them to finish their coursework with learning and grades that will serve them well into their futures.  When I talk with students about this I often say, “Make decisions that your future self will thank you for.”  Staying focused academically now will afford students to better pursue their passions this summer and into next school year.  We’re also re-messaging to students the importance of treating  each other in-person and online with kindness, representing themselves well, and upholding our school values and expectations.

By and large, our students do a tremendous job with all of this.  Thank you for continuing to support your teens and our high school community.  I’m looking forward to a great month of May!
