Georgian Bay, ON (May 29, 2017) –
The stage was set for the first Major of this young 2017 GTA AM Tour season and it was shaping up to be a tight race to the finish. The Myrtle Beach Collingwood 2-Day Major, was held at two AMAZING Collingwood-based golf courses: Lora Bay and Georgian Bay Club.. Players were greeted with two days of nice weather as mother nature was on her best behavior thus far.
Day One was was held at The Golf Club at Lora Bay. O
nce on course, players found themselves in tranquil, natural and secluded surroundings. The only "distraction" would have been the occasional white-tailed deer who also call Lora Bay their home.
Champ Flight was out of the gates, and Mike Rennie posted a slick 79, followed closely by John Harrington with 80 and Morgan Rubes and Steve Knoch tied with 84.
Michael Corvese would cruise through the first day with a score of 79, with brother Chris Corvese only three back posting 82 and Victor Wei and Danny MacDonald matching rounds both carding 83.
B Flight had a low pair of 83's on day one. The day-one lead was shared by Arlo Hugessen and Joe Taibi. Following up were John Waddington and Derek Peters, both of whom shot 86. There was a log jam for top spot rolling into day two.

Day Two would be hosted by The Georgian Bay Club. This amazing golf course boasts
wide fairways which allow marginal shots to be found and played again. But don't let the spacious fairways fool you. The angles of the greens dictate preferred sides of the fairways and those positions are carefully protected with natural and man made challenges.
