This spring, students and staff from the Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies returned from an unforgettable journey through Turkey and Greece as part of the annual Bible Lands Seminar. After months of classroom preparation, students walked the very roads of ancient Ephesus, ascended the acropolis of Pergamum, stood atop the bema in Corinth, and peered into the jail at Philippi. Although current events required a change from the usual Israel itinerary, this year’s trip proved to be rich with biblical insight and spiritual depth. Students gave presentations at key sites, connecting Scripture and archaeology while inviting us to consider the expansion of the gospel in the first century.
A highlight of the journey was the time spent with believers at St. Paul’s Union Church in Antalya, Turkey – an experience that reminded our group of God’s global work and the unity of the body of Christ across cultures.

| | Maranatha Conference Ordains David Young | | |
On Saturday, March 29th, the Maranatha Advent Christian Conference held the ordination service for David Alan Young, Jr. David and his wife Anne, along with their sons Caleb and Colin, reside in North Springfield, VT, and attend Calvary Baptist Church of Springfield, VT, which hosted the service and the reception afterward. Many family and friends of the Youngs were able to attend. Rev. Malcolm Fowler, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, at the outset of the service, stressed that all were present to offer worship to the triune God as David was ordained into the ministry of the New Covenant and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
David was the pastor of the North Springfield Advent Christian Church and faithfully cared for the church body as they wrestled with the decision to close in late 2023. He has pastored two other Advent Christian churches. Presently, he is employed as the Emergency Management Coordinator for two hospitals affiliated with the Dartmouth Health Network. He is also soon to be the chaplain for the Catamount Composite Squadron of the Vermont Civil Air Patrol. David desires to resume pastoral ministry as the Lord opens those doors.
Participating in the service were Rev. Malcolm Fowler, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church; Rev. Frank Jewett, who offered the ordination prayer; and Rev. Clayton Blackstone, who gave the charge to the candidate. Also participating were Rev. Kent Davis, who presented the right hand of fellowship, and Rev. Lou Going, who delivered the ordination sermon.

Recently, we had the opportunity to travel to La Paz (“The Peace”) in Baja California South, Mexico. While we were there, we were able to visit both of our Mexico Conference churches in La Paz. It was such a great visit on many fronts! The churches are alive and well — small but mighty as they reach beyond themselves to serve others who need to know Jesus. (read more)
| | May is Prayer Emphasis Month | | |
This May, churches across our denomination are invited to participate in Prayer Emphasis, a four-week program designed to encourage and strengthen our churches through focused prayer.
ACGC is providing devotional material titled “A Prayer for the Church” and it explores Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the Temple (1 Kings 8:54-61). Solomon’s prayer is a powerful model for us as we seek the Lord’s promises, presence, patience and purpose for our churches.
