ERAC Q1 2020 Newsletter
President's Message

For ERAC, 2020 started out with a bang – we’ve seen nine flammable liquids and 19 LPG incidents this year so far; ERAC saw our busiest eight weeks in the organization’s history this year. Thank you to our staff and contractors for managing and responding to these incidents on behalf of our Plan Participant members. A special congratulations goes out to Keyera for responding to their 50th incident since becoming a team with ERAC.

Not only has our Operations team been busy attending to incidents, but also ramping up planning for the year. Regional training and assessment events for the first half of the year are booked and we’re looking at planning at least one large-scale event for 2020.

Congratulations to ERAC’s Carley Milhausen on her new role as Executive/HR Associate!

Get Caught Up on Regulations with our
Readiness & Review Programs

In terms of federal regulations, specifically TDG and E2, several deadlines have passed or will take place in 2020.

New Year – New(ish) ERAP System

Transport Canada's deadline is January 31, 2021 to log in to EOS and resubmit your ERAP.

If your ERAP expires this year, ERAC will contact you around 90 days prior to the expiration date to begin the renewal process.

If you do not have an ERAP expiring this year, we recommend completing the process as soon as possible.

Don’t Forget – Deadline for the Leo Sichewski Memorial Bursary is March 31

The Leo Sichewski Memorial Bursary allows
  • ERAC responders,
  • Plan Participant members,
  • ERAC employees, and
  • family members of the above

to access up to up to $2,000 for enrollment in a certificate, diploma or degree program in safety, emergency management or first responder training. Applications are open now.

You Spoke, We're Listening

Since Q4 2018, ERAC surveyed our three biggest stakeholder groups: Plan Participant members, ERAC staff and ERAC responders.

It’s our goal to continuously improve in order to meet, or exceed, expectations. Thank you to everyone who filled out the surveys.

ERAC’s ArcGIS Resource Locator and Incident Management Dashboard

ERAC is extending access to the ERAC Resource Locator and Incident Management Dashboard, an ArcGIS web mapping application that aids in the location and allocation of resources for any incident, to all our Plan Participant members.
