AUGUST NEWSLETTER

Our heavenly Father is good, loving, faithful and kind. He is worthy of our worship. He is worthy of the absolute surrender of your life and your heart to Him.

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Great is His faithfulness.

I want to encourage you to schedule a time to be alone with God each and every day. Make your quiet time with the Father the most precious time of your entire day.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment

(Matthew 22:36-38)

Make loving God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind the most important thing in your life.

August Sermon Series

"The Helper"

Join us each Sunday morning in August as Pastor Wright brings a series of teaching messages on the exciting theme of the Holy Spirit. You'll grow in your faith and you'll be encouraged to walk by the Spirit and be filled with the Spirit.

We are inviting ERCC family members to participate in a day of prayer and fasting on Thursday, August 7th. Fasting and prayer often preceded ministry in the New Testament (Matthew 4:1-17 and Acts 13:1-3). We are seeking God’s guidance in an important decision. We are evaluating our outreach to the nearby apartments over the last 12 months. We are considering the idea of targeting a different apartment complex starting in September. But we want to bathe the decision in prayer and ask for God’s guidance.

We invite you to join us in prayer and fasting for this purpose. If you have any serious health problems, please consult your doctor first. There are different ways to fast. You may decide, for instance, to give up desserts or soda for one day or longer. Or, if you are healthy, you may wish to do a water-only fast for a day or more.

Great things happened when the church fasted and prayed in the New Testament. Let’s ask God to lead us and to manifest His power as we serve Him..

Mission Trip to Mexico

Please be in prayer for the ERCC mission team departing for Mexico on Monday, August 25th and returning to San Antonio on September 1st. The team will travel by plane, bus and truck to arrive in remote areas of the State of Oaxaca. Hector will assist in evangelism and giving his powerful testimony. Pastors Mark and Jose will be preaching daily. Our 2 nurses will be providing medical consultations, checking blood pressure and blood sugar. After 3 days in Oaxaca the team will travel back to Mexico City by bus. Then the team members will be preaching and teaching daily in churches in the State of Mexico, Puebla and Mexico City. Nearly every evening they will be teaching in a different congregation. Pray for God’s protection and pray that the Spirit will use the ERCC team in a powerful way.

4 “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power”

(1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

If you're a guest attending ERCC regularly, this single-session class on August 10th is intended to provide you with important information about the congregation. We'd love it if you were to decide to make a formal commitment to ERCC. Pastor Wright will teach the class. Tacos, donuts, coffee and juice are served at the 9:00 am hour. The class will be held in the Education Building on the 2nd Floor.

Bible Study on Baptism

Sunday August 17th at 9:00 am

If you have yet to be baptized biblically, we invite you to join Pastor Wright on Sunday, August 17th, at 9:00 am in the fellowship hall. This is a single-session study, so please don't miss it. In this study you'll learn from Scripture that water baptism is for believers, it is by immersion, and it depicts the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you haven’t yet experienced Biblical baptism, you need to come to this class and you need to be baptized. As Ananias said to Saul, “And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’” (Acts 22:16).

The study is intended to prepare you for water baptism.

Four New Members

We thank God for decisions of four people to join ERCC in July. Lynda Wynn joined on Sunday July 20th and Frank, Simone, and Frank Jr. Houston joined on July 27th. If you haven't met them yet, please sure to introduce yourself!

We welcome all of them to our church family and we praise God for the growth He is giving to our congregation.

Of The Month

A shoutout to Ed and Wendy for all they do! Ed mows the grass, serves as a deacon and a counselor to the elders; together Ed and Wendy bring the donuts every Sunday morning and they lead and organize the annual Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry in November.

Thanks for all you do Wendy & Edward!

We thank God for the ministry of Pioneer Bible Translators. Evers Road Christian Church provides regular monthly financial support to this wonderful ministry. Below is some information from the webpage of Pioneer Bible Translators:

The goal of Pioneer Bible Translators isn’t just translation, but transformation. We bring people to Jesus through Bible translation and church planting, combined with discipleship, incarnational ministry, and the use of translated Scripture.

The word “Pioneer” reflects our commitment to translating the Bible and planting churches among the world’s least-reached people groups. Our primary focus is on the most challenging language groups — those who are marginalized, those who live in hard-to-access places, and those who are Deaf.

Because we specialize in both Bible translation and church planting, Pioneer Bible Translators is uniquely positioned to reach language groups who still have no church and no Scripture.

Our Mission

Pioneer Bible Translators exists to disciple the Bibleless, mobilizing God’s people to provide enduring access to God’s Word.

Our Vision

Transformed Lives Through God’s Word in Every Language

Our Strategy

Prayer is our Strategy to Reach the Bibleless

Several shirts of each size are currently available for purchase, but if we're missing your size, orders will be taken for future periodic purchases from the shirt supplier..

ERCC Fellowship Hall

Led by Hector Peña and Lisa Elizabeth

Each one of us has at least one or more things about their life that they desire to take back from the enemy. What if we told you that, not only is this possible, but it is a promise from GOD that HE is your Redeemer? We believe wholeheartedly that you will find freedom in attending our life recovery ministry. Whether your struggle is with addiction, food, depression, anxiety, relationships, or anything else, there is help and there is hope.

The Life Recovery ministry is a Christ-centered 12-step fellowship group that seeks encouragement from the Word and from others who are daily walking out their freedom to equip you to reclaim that part of your life that rightfully belongs to God but has been stolen.

Please consider joining us as we choose L.I.F.E. (Living IFreedom Everyday).

(Hebrews 3:13) But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

Talk to Hector Peña if you wish to participate in this group.

ERCC Facebook Group

We invite you to join our ERCC Facebook Group. It is one of our ministry objectives to use social media to reach more people. This is especially important in relation to young people today.

A few discussion ideas for using this forum are:

  • What's your favorite thing about church?
  • What is your favorite church event?
  • What was your favorite quote from the service last week?
  • Providing a Praise Report on an answered prayer

We also encourage you to post your ERCC pictures on this page.
