A Message From Pastor Wright

Joy Inexpressible

“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,”

(1 Peter 1:8).

One of the greatest blessings of the Christian life is the Joy of the Lord. This joy gives us a quality of life the world does not know. In the verse above Peter makes it clear that joy comes from believing in and loving Jesus.

This joy comes from the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:52). It does not come from this world. God’s presence in our hearts in the Person of the Holy Spirit is the source of our joy. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).

This Joy is inexpressible. Words cannot describe it. This joy is full of glory. It is like a foretaste of glorious joy we will have in heaven.

Since this joy does not come from this world, the world cannot take it away. Our joy in Christ is not dependent on the circumstances of this world.

Paul and Silas were falsely accused, beaten and thrown in jail. They rejoiced and sang praises in jail (Acts 16:25). This joy actually gives us strength to endure trials: “looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2).

Thank God for the “joy inexpressible and full of glory!”

Alan Wan of

Mission Resource Network (MRN)

Speaking October 6th in Morning Worship

Alan was born in China. He became a follower of Jesus when he was in college in China from the influence of his English professors. After graduating with a Master’s degree in English, he came to the U.S and received another Bachelor's degree in Bible and Intercultural Studies from Ozark Christian College.

Before joining MRN, Alan served for 8 years as the Development Officer for Good News Production International (GNPI), a global media ministry. He traveled around the country to connect donors with Kingdom-building opportunities and to share how their generosity changed lives for eternity.

His wife Jenny is actually a former member of ERCC, and served on the missions committee. Alan and Jenny met in September 2018 as Jenny performed her mission committee role of communicating with the missionaries we sponsor.

Alan is grateful to be part of the MRN family and to connect with people who share the same passion for multiplying healthy leaders to disciple the unreached and under-served people groups of the world.

September 21st Reach 238 Saturation Event

We glorify God and we thank all who participated! The September 21st Saturation event at the Serenity Residence Apartment complex, just a mile from ERCC, was a big success. Here are a few pictures:

Reach 238

Next Saturation Event on Saturday, October 26th

Our next Outreach at Serenity Residence will be a "Trunk Or Treat" on Saturday, October 26th. We're asking for 7 to 10 families to decorate their truck or car in a creative way and have candy to offer the kids. We're also asking all ERCC members to donate a bag of candy for this project and we'll need volunteers to make and serve hot chocolate.

NOTE: The Trunk or Treat event will NOT be at ERCC.
The Event will take place at the Serenity Residence apartments, 1 mile away at 6400 Wurzback Road, at 6:00 pm on October 26th.

Remember, this is all part of an ongoing plan to build relationships with those who live close to our campus and show them the love of Jesus.

Above:A creative idea for Trunk or Treat

"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." (Romans 6:4)

Adam’s Baptism

It is so exciting to see what God is doing. On September 22nd Adam Vasquez was baptized. He placed his faith in Jesus and surrendered his life. We praise God for changed lives by the power of the Gospel.

Belinda's Baptism

The angels rejoice. Belinda Garcia was baptized into Christ on Sunday, September 8th. ERCC is now her spiritual family and we are committed to building her up in the faith.

Consuelo Invited Belinda to ERCC

Consuelo Tinajero met Belinda while she was serving as a volunteer speaker/teacher at a local Re-entry Center. Once Belinda was paroled, Consuelo invited her and brought her to ERCC. Belinda surrendered her life to Jesus the very first Sunday and was baptized the following Sunday.

October Sermon Series

"Peace, Joy & Victory"

Do you need encouragement? Do you need a message in your life that is pure, powerful and positive?  God has called us to have the “peace that passes understanding.” The Holy Spirit gives us “joy inexpressible and full of glory.” Jesus makes us “more than conquerors.” Come with an open heart to God’s message. The Father wants you to have peace, joy and victory.

Single-Session Class on Biblical Baptism

9:00 am on Sunday October 6th

We'll offer a “single session” class on Biblical baptism on Sunday, Oct 6th at 9:00 am in the education building on the 2nd floor. Come and learn what Scripture teaches on this important theme. You'll learn that biblical baptism by immersion is for believers, not infants. Pastor Wright will teach this class.

Mission Team Mexico Trip

Please pray for our team going to Mexico for one week (October 28 through November 4th). The mission team will be composed of Mark and Linda Wright, Hector Peña, Jose Campos (our Spanish-language pastor), Sylvia Rodriguez, and Jerry and Rose Kline. Pray that God will use this team in a powerful way.

New Members Class

October 13th at 9:00 am

If you are a guest attending ERCC regularly, this single-session class is intended to provide you with important information about the congregation. We would love it if you were to decide to make a formal commitment to ERCC. Pastor Wright will teach the class. Tacos, donuts, coffee and juice are served at the 9:00 am hour.

Outdoor Movie Night

"Sight"

Join us Friday October 18th for another great Outdoor movie. SIGHT, starring Greg Kinnear and Terry Chen, follows the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese immigrant who defies all odds to become a world-renowned eye surgeon. Drawing upon the grit and determination he gained from a turbulent uprising in his upbringing, Dr. Wang sets out to restore the sight of a blind orphan. SIGHT will encourage viewers to see their lives from a new perspective and leave them with a renewed sense of purpose to accomplish anything they set their mind to.

ERCC will provide hot dogs. Please bring a lawn chair and side dishes and desserts to share. Join us for family fun. Don’t miss this true story of struggle and faith with a happy ending.

We'll begin eating at 6:30 and the movie will start at sundown (approximately 7 pm).

Saturday, October 12th

In October, ERCC's high school students will gather at the church for a brief bible study followed by a trip to play laser tag! We'll meet in the fellowship hall at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 12th and study scripture together before loading up for laser tag. We plan to play from around 2-5 pm before heading back to the church. We'll take the church van for transportation, but parents may choose to come along if they wish to stay with their child after we load up to return to the church.

If you/your child plan to attend, please let Caleb know no later than Wednesday, October 9th at 5 pm.

We hope to see you there!!!

Dramas Illustrating Sermon Theme in October

A new series of drama skits will begin on Sunday morning, October 6th. Our own Dan Gillen writes the scripts. Dan coordinates carefully with Pastor Wright so that the skit and the sermon are on the same theme. The drama is actually a part of the sermon. Dan also does the casting and directing. Thanks to Dan and the cast and the support crew for their ministry. Drama skits will be presented in morning worship on October 6th, 13th, and 20th.

Christmas Drama

Our drama director Dan Gillen is announcing an open casting call to all church attendees for the Christmas skit Sunday October 27th.  Dan wants to make sure everyone that desires may participate. The casting meeting will be in the fellowship hall right after morning worship on October 28th.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast 8:00 am on Saturdays

We meet each Saturday to read Scripture, pray and enjoy a breakfast treat.

All men are invited to attend!

The Rivera Family

Joshua, Gloria (mother), Doug (father) and Hailey

The Rivera family loaded all the supplies and equipment for the September Reach 238 event in their truck and brought everything back to the church after the event was over. They also helped with the water balloons and helped distribute invitation flyers on apartment doors on the Tuesday before the event. In the summer, they also helped with Vacation Bible School decorations. Thank you Rivera family for all you do!

Passion Ministries

ERCC is pleased to provide regular monthly financial support for Passion Ministries, Inc.

This ministry is located in parts of India where there is active persecution.

The last report, dated April 2024, states that Christians have been marked with a black X and treated as outcasts. Christian homes have been demolished. Preachers have been attacked and many imprisoned. Much of this persecution comes from the local government. Those in power see Christians as a threat.

In spite of persecution many Christians are evangelizing. 12 were baptized, based on the April report. In addition to evangelism, the ministry operates a children’s home and a food ministry.

ERCC Facebook Group

We invite you to join our ERCC Facebook Group. It is one of our ministry objectives to use social media to reach more people. This is especially important in relation to young people today.

A few discussion ideas for using this forum are:

  • What's your favorite thing about church?
  • What is your favorite church event?
  • What was your favorite quote from the service last week?
  • Providing a Praise Report on an answered prayer

We also encourage you to post your ERCC pictures on this page.

Prayer Warriors Ministry of Intercession

If you would like to participate in this ministry, please send an email to pastor.mark.a.wright@gmail.com.

Each week we send out a prayer list based on the written prayer requests received in our worship gatherings. Our prayer warriors after receiving this list then go to the heavenly Father in intercessory prayer for these requests of our ERCC family.
