What can I expect while the project is ongoing?
A "functional code freeze" remains in effect – meaning production enhancements to NAV 2017 will be deferred, except for technical and business critical requirements.
What should I expect after the project is completed?
We recognize the ongoing functional code freeze has deferred system enhancements for all business areas, creating some pent-up demand. Consequently, we’ve strengthened our IT staffing, team skills and knowledge on the new platform and processes.
With the transition to our new Business Central ERP, we will also be shifting our ongoing development approach to one that’s more strategically-based – and less user-request driven. We believe this is a better long-term approach to support our users and business. Strategy will be informed by user requests, but development will be driven by a Product Strategy Committee to ensure a more holistic perspective. The committee will comprise leaders from across the organization.
For the new Business Central ERP, we will be releasing full updates to the application on a regular basis – as opposed to revising individual components. These full updates will bundle and encompass all required changes across the platform.
How will I be involved?
Over the next several months, MMC Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from various business areas will be engaged in testing and validating the new system and data quality.
-
March & April: SMEs will receive navigation training on BC and execute on their user acceptance test (UAT) plans.
-
May: Company-wide navigation training on BC will be available.
-
June: SMEs will be involved in validating during Go Live.
Our Subject Matter Experts play a critical role in the transition to our new ERP system. Thank you in advance for your efforts and contribution in the upcoming months to the success of this important project.
