ERRC Cares Initiative
Introducing: TeleBruin
SORRY - the previous link was a "test" link I inserted by mistake

The correct link is below

This email is in response to the COVID-19 social distancing phrase we have been hearing about. The most important factor we can control in the COVID-19 outbreak is to reduce population density.

ERRC Cares: TeleBruin is a pilot initiative to keep our Bruin Community connected while UCLA has suspended all nonessential events of any size through the end of spring quarter. TeleBruin simply put is a “phone tree”.

The UCLA retiree “phone buddy” pairing will be random.

Each retiree will make one call and receive one call from a fellow UCLA retired colleague. Once connected, it is up to you and your call buddy to decide how long of a conversation you will have and whether or not you want to talk more often.

The calls will be simply social, meant to engage one another and maybe establish a new friendship.

  • The health benefits of interpersonal connections are important to lessen feelings of isolation.
  • Social distancing does not mean social isolation.
  • Reach out to others and offer support and empathy.
  • Personal relationships are crucial in maintaining perspective and elevating mood.

After you sign up, you will receive an email next week so you are ready to make and receive your call.

Who can participate:  UCLA Emeriti and Retirees – if the phone tree grows to guests and friends of the UCLA community…great! However , the ERRC only has access to UCLA retirees for pairing.

What is ERRC Cares: TeleBruin : A pilot social phone call program for our retired UCLA community.

When will this happen : For the duration of the COVID-19 health crisis and possibly ongoing.

CORRECTED LINK - Sign up here by using your name, phone number, and email. By Friday, March 27 th you will be emailed your UCLA TeleBruin buddy.

To help us with the expected volume of sign-ups, please only sign up if you are committed to participating. Please consider that social isolation and reducing population density can cause stress, anxiety, boredom and loneliness.

Now is the time to increase positive experiences; including how we take care of our emotional, social well-being, and support our friends, family and community.

Take care,
ERRC Staff
