University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) and UC-PERS Plus 5 Plan benefit recipients, including those receiving survivor and UCRP disability income, will receive a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective July 1, 2023. The increase will appear in checks paid on August 1

Effective July 1, 2023, the COLA rate is 2.90% for those with a retirement date on or before July 1, 2022.

The COLA for UC-PERS Plus 5 benefit recipients is also 2.90% (set as the same as the COLA for UCRP benefit recipients with a retirement date of October 1, 1991).

UCRP benefit recipients are eligible to receive a COLA if they have been retired one full year by July 1. Therefore, those members whose retirement or disability date is after July 1, 2022, are not yet eligible to receive a COLA.

The IRS announced tax relief for Californians affected by winter storms. Only taxpayers affected by these storms qualify for an extension to October 16, 2023, to file individual and business tax returns and make certain tax payments.

The postponement of time to file and pay does not apply to residents and businesses located in the following 7 counties: Imperial, Kern, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, and Sierra.

Getty Collection Lecture
Come and watch a fascinating and imminently humorous reveal of a multitude of artists whose art is within the Getty Collection.

Artists Did What?

You probably did not learn this stuff in your Art History class! Beyond the dates of birth and death and what they painted, artists had some interesting lives. Did you know Albrecht Dürer drew a rhinoceros even though he had never seen one. Or that Michelangelo had such horrible body odor his assistants couldn’t stand to work near him. How about the fact Edouard Manet was once insulted by a critic and the artist was so upset, he demanded a duel. Did you know Henri Rousseau had a criminal record, or that Renoir once traded a portrait for a pair of shoes? We'll look at their fascinating yet offbeat lives and their works in the Getty Collection.

Sparkling Newness: The Life of Ukranian American Artist Peter Krasnow

Explore the life and expressive visual art of the great California modernist Peter Krasnow, whose post–World War II paintings are on view in the exhibition Peter Krasnow: Breathing Joy and Light.

As a Jewish boy born and raised in the ghettos of Novograd Volynsk in Northern Ukraine, Krasnow safely emigrated to the United States where his remarkable success would begin. As he embraced freedom, his drive to create dynamic, humanistic paintings and evocative wooden sculptures led to a career beyond the dreams of the millions of Ukrainians who remained bound to the dark fate of Russia.
