We were blessed with another great day of worship this past Sunday. Thank you Anita and Abby for the special music in the 8:30 service. The preschool and children presented their Christmas music in the 11:00 service. It is such a joy to see these young ones singing praises to the Lord! Thank you, Mendy Miltier, for leading them.
Also, we welcomed Donna Borchert in the 8:30 service upon her profession of faith. In the 11:00 service we welcomed Carleen Page (transfer of church letter) and Jacob “Scrappy” Larson (profession of faith). If you haven’t already done so, please welcome them to our RPBC faith family! It is so awesome to see all that God is doing in this special season of grace!
Saturday was our annual Ladies Christmas Luncheon, and they knocked it out of the park! We had almost 200 ladies, in addition to about a dozen men and boys who served them. Thank you to Anita Kendrick (Women’s Ministry Director) for organizing and leading; Judy, Roger, and Julia Meyers for the general decorations, each lady who hosted and decorated a table, the men and boys who waited tables, Creekside Café, MendyMade Desserts, Evan Dickerson & Rhys Everspaugh for sound operation, and everyone who attended. Also, thank you to Anita Kendrick, Abby Wilson, Drew & Anna Kate Breland, and special guest, Ms. Chocolate (Gwen Williams) for their inspiring songs. Finally, a special thank you to Amanda Cloy for sharing her testimony while encouraging the attendees, and for her beautiful song.
We have entered our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering season. This special offering every year goes toward the support of our International Missionaries. Once again, our church goal is $10,000. I want to encourage each of us to pray and ask God how much he would have us give toward this goal, and then to give obediently. If we do that, I am confident that we will meet and exceed our goal!
God promised the Messiah to save us from our sins when the only 2 people who existed at the time were Adam and Eve. He spent the next several thousand years giving clarity to His promise through His prophets. They told us who to look for (Isaiah), when He would be born (Daniel), and where He would be born (Micah). God even used a non-Hebrew prophet to reveal that His birth would be announced by the appearance of a special star (Balaam, as recorded by Moses in the book of Numbers). After all of that, why were a group of Persian sorcerers and astrologists the only ones who saw it coming? Maybe because we tend to see what we want to see. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge,” (ESV). May our celebration of Christmas open the eyes of an unbelieving generation.
I am looking forward to seeing you Sunday for another great day in the Lord’s house!
You are Loved!
