Dear Paris,
No doubt our Gala theme, Determine Your Destiny, applies today. We are poised and pause to watch democracy in its moment spooling our future. Much like watching the wave crest when surfing Lake Superior, (an absolutely beautifully absurd activity) we are ready though momentarily frozen. Though we may not feel it explicitly, our association ties and relationships hold us as we face the wave. Those local ties support us even more as we hope to turn and ride that wave and not get pummeled by it. And to follow our boogie board American politics metaphor all the way in, on Wednesday's beech we stand on partially frozen legs, and find you and East Siders ready to lend a hand, invest in our common future, and get back on the board and back at it for the East Side shore we share.
