Jan 26, 2020
Greetings!

Here's the truth - part of what you find is shaped by what you're looking for. You looking for marketing support, to be a resource for your community, relief, a new connection...? This week there's something for everybody including a round of closer connections at our meeting this Thursday: East Side Connect! Your Network - Your Way. I'm looking for the good. On the East Side, that's a lucky penny always paying dividends.

Who're you looking for/Who's looking for you:
Snow Emergency Superstars - new Program looking for Businesses
City Bike Project looking for a few good East Side curbs
And our East Side Nonprofits are warming up for Feb - see our calendar here!

This week you step closer to your goals. When you share them, share what you're looking for, you take that giant leap forward. We'll listen to you share about the things you are looking for this year: the meetings the connections, to take your work to the next level. And we'll hear a little about the new systems ESABA is putting in place starting with Member Renewals launching Feb 1st.
Special guest Tyler Tran from PaymentSmith.

Join us for a conversation with members, allies, and resource contacts to make sure the East Side stays informed, nimble, and gets the support it needs. You meet, you question, you learn, you repeat... at a new time on Thursdays - 11:00am for 2021.

Snow Emergency Superstars - Looking for a few Good Bizs

This new City program asks for volunteer community members to post signs in their neighborhood and alert their neighbors of upcoming snow emergencies. There is also an ask for businesses to volunteer to allow neighbors to park in their plowed parking lots overnight during snow emergencies. This helps keep our streets clear of snow, and helps prevent cars from being towed. Learn more:
This is a new program, and any businesses who would like to participate would be helping to make the program a reality! Would you be able to share out about it with ESABA members and help encourage business owners to participate?
Delivery Red
Your City Government working to support small businesses: Packaging Ordinance and Third Party Delivery Regulation

Here's the full detail on the resolution passed by the City Council last week about Third Party Delivery regulation intended to help restaurants and other businesses that use third party delivery have more power over the fees associated with the delivery. Read more from the StarTribune here.

The Council also is talking about delaying the start of enforcement on the Sustainable To-Go Packaging Ordinance. Some of the council support this for these reasons:

  • COVID struggles of restaurants, bars and other food businesses
  • DSI is spread thin, and likely will not prioritize enforcement of this new ordinance this year
  • Ramsey County curbside composting pick-up is not in place yet; the original one-year delay in enforcement was intended to coincide this curbside compost pick-up

Connect with our City Councilmembers Nelsie Yang and Jane Prince to let them know how how this would impact your business.
