Ok, what happened? Last I remember it was almost Halloween, and now it's as though we rolled by Thanksgiving, and we're all but ready to celebrate Christmas, oh, and you'd better have your New Year's reservations made!
The holidays are upon us, and the year 2020 is but 48 days away. 2020 now that's a big number. When I was but a wee lad, I remember the Holidays and thought they would never come fast enough - all the presents, Christmas carols, and food. And don't forget the egg nog. By the way, who drinks that stuff? Somehow or another, a small carton of it ends up in my refrigerator. I don't think it keeps for a year, refrigerated or not.
I am resisting the urge to be one of the first to wish you a Merry Christmas, so I won't, not just yet.
Back to business, please make plans to join us here at the Chamber tomorrow Thurday the 14th at noon, when we will have attorney Dan Eaton here to go over the particulars of the groundbreaking legislation passed and signed into law: AB5. This law could fundamentally change the staus of contract workers in our state. Billed as the "gig economy killer" AB5 has left many employers confused and unsure of it's full effect. That's what this luncheon will address. Come and bring your questions, oh, and lunch is served.
And if you have not had enough of your Chamber at lunch on Thursday, you have another opportunity to join us for our monthly mixer tomorrow night from 5p-8p when we celebrate our 4th Annual North County Tardeada at the California Center for the Arts. Register
here, and please make a point of it to say hello, or hola. I want to meet each of you.
And now for our 1st opinion poll. Please answer the following
question. The results of the poll will be available on our website Escondidochamber.org at COB Friday.
Cheers,

What's Up With Daylight Savings Time?
Last November, 60% of California voters passed Proposition 7, aimed at eliminating the bi-annual tradition of moving clocks back in the fall and forward in the spring. Daylight saving time was first imposed as a temporary energy saving measure during World War I, and was re-instated during World War II. After World War II ended, states were allowed to decide the issue, and in 1949, voters approved Proposition 12, permanently establishing daylight saving time in our state. Since the voters authorized daylight saving time, only the voters could approve any changes. Under the terms of Proposition 7, California voters asked the Legislature to introduce a bill changing the times and dates of daylight saving time, in compliance with federal laws. As a result...
