Disruption, GIG economy, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, GPS, 5G, alternative fuel, these are but a handful of words that have become staples in today's vocabulary.
The world is evolving and things change. Our Vocabulary changes, new meanings to old words, old words are replaced, dropped and are incorporated organically into everyday use. All but extinct are the days of rotary phones, dog catchers, pay phones, yellow cabs, drug stores, daily newspapers, and dare I say "paperboys", yes that's how we were identified. The list goes on and on its all part of change. We evolve over time, making adjustments, corrections, discoveries all creating opportunity to be quicker, smarter, faster: in an effort to make life easier, you know, create more "me" time.
How's that working? Sometimes not so well but, it is inevitable. Your Chamber too is changing, evolving and sometime not as quickly as I'd like, or by our own choice. The speed of change is accelerating and the issue becomes when change is right? It can't always be right, can it? Or is it inevitable? Is change a natural process that can't be stopped, slowed or prevented?
The Chamber's goal is to unite, inform, educate and build a vibrant business community here in Escondido. We want to give any business that wants to succeed a fighting chance to do so here in Escondido and the Chamber is the portal for this. We're the aggregator of all the different resources available. We're the inflection point for our members and it's a balancing act as we're the tip of the
spear. Not everything we do is right but, we're taking the fail fast approach. We're embracing change, transforming, growing and all with the foundational intent of improving, being better. Creating more value for our members is our goal every day.
Your Escondido Chamber of Commerce is thankful to all of the great work performed over the last 109+ years by people, people who love Escondido and wanted to make it better, to change.
I'm also personally very thankful to all of you who have welcomed me here to the Chamber. It's a great community of smart, caring and loving people here in Escondido and I'm proud to be a part of it.
Happy Thanksgiving from your Escondido Chamber of Commerce.
