Life and business moves on as we digest the results of the election and continue toward our year-end goals.

At the Chamber we value the diverse perspectives of our members and embrace those views in crafting our agenda. Maintaining the foundations that have created space for the stability of our organization while remaining flexible enough to grow and thrive in our changing environment is key to measured success.

Many of the most beloved events and programs offered by the Chamber are maintained, like Community in Unity, which will take place this year on November 29 under the stars at City Hall or the ever-popular Grand Avenue Festival, which was a raging success this past October and highlights our City's magnificent downtown.

The Chamber is not restricted from offering new and engaging programs and we are up to the challenge. Soon, the Chamber will be rolling out its most inventive and courageous membership offering yet as well as new programs to help expand the reach of this broad and diverse chamber of commerce.

I hope you enjoy what the Chamber continues to offer as well as what is yet to come.

It's Almost Time to Shop Small
Small Business Saturday November 24th

In an effort to support local shops that make
our communities strong,  Small Business Saturday  takes place on the  Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage  people to  Shop Small  and bring more holiday  shopping to small, local businesses. We all know there are a lot of wonderful, eclectic, unique mom-and-pop stores in Escondido, so get ready to show your support.

Since its inception in 2010, Small Business Saturday has grown into a national celebration and a community building movement. An estimated $85 billion has been spent, and over 90% of consumers say it has made a positive impact on their community!
 The Department of Motor Vehicles...
...the DMV needs some TLC ASAP!

The Department of Motor Vehicles has been in the news a lot recently. Problems have included long wait times, computer crashes, and voter registration errors.   The DMV is just one of many state agencies in need of modernization. This session I introduced legislation that would require all state agencies, the DMV and the Legislature included, to adopt innovative new technologies aimed at increasing efficiency, enhancing cybersecurity and providing better public service and transparency.
Steps are under way to fix the problems at DMV.  These include adding additional employees, opening some offices on Saturdays and placing self-service kiosks in grocery stores where vehicle license plate renewals, along with the stickers, can be processed instantly.  Local locations include Albertsons stores at 1509 E. Valley Pkwy., Escondido, 1601 S. Melrose Dr., Vista, and at the Ralphs store located at 23801 Washington Ave., in Murrieta.
