Welcome to the land of
OZ!
There is a good chance that you've already been to OZ, but you may not know what it is. The blue highlighted area of this map shows the Opportunity Zone (OZ) in Escondido. Vista is home to the only other North County OZ.
Opportunity Zones were designed as an economic development tool to encourage long-term investment and job creation in low income communities throughout the country. California has 879 of the 8,764 across the USA.

 |
Opportunity Zone, Escondido. Centre City to Hickory,
Lincoln to 2nd Ave.
|
Investment is encouraged by providing tax benefits to Investors that invest capital gains into Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOF). The QOFs invest in tangible business property and/or qualified businesses located in the OZ. The longer the funds are held, the better the tax benefit. Currently, the IRS allows for a 5,7 or 10 year term.
It can be confusing, but there are a lot of resources to help navigate the OZs and QOFs:
So whether you want to invest funds and defer capital gains taxes, or seeking funding, the land of OZ may be just what you are looking for!

SDCWA hosts "San Diego Grown Photo Contest" during month of May
As one of the nation's top producers of avocados, ornamental trees and shrubs, flowers, succulents, lemons, and other agricultural goods, San Diego County's farms generate nearly $4.8 billion in total economic activity.
Our region's temperate climate and reliable water supplies support an astounding 5,500 local farms on more than 250,000 cultivated acres - not to mention the numerous farmers markets, restaurants and grocery stores stocked with our local bounty.
To celebrate how safe and reliable water supplies fuel San Diego's thriving agriculture industry, the San Diego County Water Authority is hosting a photo contest in May, which is also Water Awareness Month.
