Ok, I admit it I still watch TV, I mean local TV and yes, I even watch when it's aired not when I want via DVR. Oh don't get me wrong I still have to clean out my scheduled recordings to create more space only to go through the same process 30 days later as I clear all of the recorded shows I thought I would watch.
So that leads me to my current addiction, and that's to the latest offering from Ken Burns on PBS; Country Music. It's an 8-part series of the roots and history of Country Music in this country, and I'm blown away, fascinated by the stories as told in a way no one else has. First, whether you're a fan of Ken's style or not, the depth to which he and his team have gone to capture this story and then weave it into a compelling 16+ hours of content is truly a thing of beauty.
Even if you're not a fan of country music, you might appreciate the stories of rags to riches, epic career
comebacks and tales of tragic loss turned into legendary gains. It's the stories of life rooted in our country's history contributing to the growth of the greatest nation on earth. And, it's all about the people and their spirit and resolves to do better.
I think we can all learn a lesson or two from these stories. I know I have. Just when you think your world is putting too much on you and nothing seems to go right you witness the plight of others through this documentary that have persevered through so much more than your load, and maybe you realize your weighted down life is not so bad. So pick yourself up take a deep breath, smile and push onward.
That's my takeaway.

California's First Constitution
One-hundred, forty-seven years ago this month, 48 delegates at Colton Hall in Monterrey worked to draft California's first Constitution. This past week, visitors to the California Museum were treated to a rare
public display of both the English and Spanish versions of the original 1849 California Constitution as these
documents are typically housed at the California State Archives.
Though California was not officially admitted into the Union until September 9, 1850, the people of our Great State were eager to establish a formal government following the United States' acquisition of the
territory from Mexico. On September 1, 1849, California's first Constitutional Convention was held in
Monterey and on November 13, a Constitution was ratified.
The Constitution of 1849 begins...
