Greetings ESCA Members,

September marks National Workforce Month, and we're reaching out with a special request.

At ESCA, we've joined forces with the Exhibitions and Conferences Alliance to address pressing workforce legislative matters. When Congress reconvenes after their summer hiatus, they'll delve into two pivotal legislative discussions that could revolutionize workforce dynamics in our domain:

  • The JOBS Act: A unified, bipartisan effort, this legislation seeks to propel Americans into lucrative careers by allowing students to channel federal Pell Grants toward top-tier, shorter-term job training initiatives for the inaugural time. By widening the horizon of Pell Grant beneficiaries beyond traditional academic realms, the JOBS Act stands poised to dismantle the prevailing skills gap. The endgame? Equipping professionals with the vital training and credentials to flourish in high-demand areas, such as our own.

  • The Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act: This innovative proposition encourages Americans to tap into their 529 savings plans to offset the expenditures tied to specific workforce training and certification endeavors. By encompassing fees related to tuition, exams, and pivotal training required for acquiring workforce badges and permits, this act could metamorphose 529 plans from college-centric saving avenues to comprehensive career investment mechanisms, ushering in a new wave of lucrative, desirable jobs like those we champion.
