Dear Empire State Campaign for Child Care members,

Now that we are halfway through the legislative session, we want to update you on our upcoming advocacy plans and highlight the critical work we have done these past few months that have helped us get to this point:

Senate and Assembly Budget Debrief Webinar 3/26

Join the Empire State Campaign for Child Care to discuss the NYS Assembly and NYS Senate budget proposals regarding child care. We will be discussing funding that is included (or missing) from both budgets, how these budget proposals compare to Governor Hochul's Executive Budget, and what's next for our ongoing advocacy. Registration is required.

While there is still much left to do, we are so proud of all the amazing work that has been done over the past several months by all of you to advocate for the child care system we deserve! Here are just a few highlights:

In January, we hosted a powerful Advocacy Day in Albany - bringing together over 300 parents, providers, advocates, and children!

We were incredibly grateful to partner with YouthFX, an Albany-based organization dedicated to empowering young people through digital media and technology. Their team beautifully captured the passion and commitment of our campaign members by showcasing the vibrant energy of this year’s event. View below or click here to view and share!

In February, we conducted a survey of over 1,250 child care providers from 61 counties across the state to learn about the urgent needs for staffing and funding.

In March, we are continuing to advocate for a permanent funding stream for the child care workforce as well as additional funding for the state’s Child Care Assistance Program. You can read our response to the proposed Senate and Assembly budgets below.

But we are not done and we need your help in seeing this through! You can take action by:

• Sending a letter to your legislators and Governor Hochul urging New York State to invest in child care
• Joining our 3/20 Call Relay to Governor Hochul and legislative leaders
• Writing a Letter to the Editor (LTE) of your local paper
