Wheat Production Reporting Date – Signed production report due for summer 2023 harvested wheat

Corn & Soybean Crop Insurance Premium Due Date – RMA approved a 60-day waiver of interest on premiums with billing dates between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30; interest will begin to accrue on unpaid premiums after Nov. 30

Pasture, Rangeland, Forage Sales Closing Date – Signed application and acreage report due

Corn & Soybean End of Insurance Coverage – Request an extension or appraisal for any crops left standing in the field

Wheat Acreage Reporting Date – Signed acreage report due for all 2023 fall-planted wheat

Young farmers are encouraged to apply for the Cultivating Master Farmers (CFM) program. This unique, two-year mentoring program connects young farmers with Prairie Farmer Master Farmers. Participants exchange best management practices, discuss new ideas and information, and transparently share farming challenges and solutions.

Frey Family Farms of Dahlgren received the inaugural Illinois Leopold Conservation Award^®, which recognizes extraordinary achievement in voluntary conservation and management of natural resources in 27 states. Dennis and Jackie Frey were presented with the $10,000 award at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur. The Freys have implemented several conservation practices to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, and enhance wildlife habitat at their beef cattle and grain farm in Hamilton County. Dennis served on the FCI Board of Directors for 25 years from 1991-2016.
