Pastor’s Corner
Greetings all,

September has finally arrived! Yes, I am happy that the calendar is finally turning to the beginning of cooler weather and the return to school. Here at Ebenezer, the return to autumn means the return of Sunday School, Confirmation and Bible Studies.

Sunday School returns to Ebenezer on Sunday, September 8, as we kick-off another fun year. We have a group of highly talented and enthusiastic teachers to lead our young folks in another year of learning about the Bible and our faith. I look forward to meeting the kids and their parents on the 8th.

The Confirmation program also makes its 2019-2020 debut on Wednesday, September 18th. Our newest group of young adults, and their parents, will get together with Pastor Mike to talk about the two-year program. This year we will be focusing our studies in the New Testament. Moving from Sunday School to Confirmation is a big change. We talk about topics not covered in Sunday School, things that are important to the youth, how to interpret what we read in the Bible and to apply those lessons to our lives, and we look at the history of the UCC and the wider church to understand how we got to where we are today.

This fall we’ll be introducing a series of Bible studies which I hope will help us live our lives as disciples of Christ, lessons we can use each day bringing God’s love to everyone we encounter. These classes will begin during the week of September 17th.

I look forward to meeting everyone on Sunday, September 8th.

Peace and grace,
Church Doors

Notes from the Music Corner ...
We’re grateful for various worship music experiences during the summer.  Thank you to the congregation for a generous response to the Larry Delawder family at the August 18 worship. Their various musical talents, plus “Barney” added an extra spark to the service.

It will be exciting to have the handbell choir, Ebenezer Brass, back in action! An e-mail has been sent to all of last year’s ringers to determine who will be returning - hopefully everyone replied with yes! There is a real need for new ringers, so please come to try it out. There is no need for a music background and there is a gratifying camaraderie among the group. New and exciting music is planned ahead. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. beginning September 4. It will be great to have Ebenezer Brass return to worship on September 22. Beginning in October, they will ring the 2nd Sunday of the month at St. John and the 4th Sunday at Ebenezer. Please call Jill Sippel at 920-418-1534 if you are interested or have questions.
The Larry Delawder Family Gospel Singers during the August 18 worship service!
Interested in Ebenezer Brass?!
Ebenezer Brass is in search of more ringers! The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings beginning September 4 - May from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., and they perform at least 2x/month (once at EUCC and once at St. John). They also do a Christmas Concert and Fellowship in December. It is NOT necessary that you know how to read music! More ringers for Ebenezer Brass will allow the choir to rotate ringers for performances, and enable them to perform at other venues. If you're interested in learning more or joining, please contact Don Waldvogel (920-853-3494) or Jill Sippel or ( 920-418-1534)!
