EURASHE SUMMER COCKTAILS
On the 4th of July, EURASHE hosted its annual Summer Cocktails, bringing together the Brussels policy community in a vibrant networking event with food and live music.

One of the event's highlights was the introduction of the new EURASHE Board, including President Hannes Raffaseder. The new Board members have a shared vision of advancing applied higher education and commitment to the 2023-2025 strategy.
EURASHE 32nd ANNUAL CONFERENCE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Conference took place at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB), a member of EURASHE, bringing together 160 participants from 21 countries. All the keynote speeches and panels were orientated towards developing skills, which is a core concern of applied higher education institutions. Furthermore, there was a lively discussion in 20 breakout sessions, which allowed members and partners to showcase their activities and receive valuable feedback.

COMMISSION RELEASED ITS EVALUATION OF UPSKILLING PATHWAYS INITIATIVE

The Commission evaluated the actions taken in response to the Council Recommendation on Upskilling Pathways. Moreover, it investigated the progress made towards raising the levels of literacy, numeracy and digital skills among adults and providing those who are lower skilled with further upskilling opportunities.

NEW INDICATORS ON MATURE STUDENTS INCLUDED IN ETER

The share of mature students is an essential indicator of the extent to which adult learners are participating in higher education. By analysing this indicator, policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders can gain insights into the inclusivity and accessibility of HEIs for individuals who choose to pursue education later in life.

PREPARING FOR THE INTERNATIONAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE 'CHALLENGES OF CONTEMPORARY HIGHER EDUCATION' (CCHE) 2024

Conference of Academies for Applied Studies in Serbia (CAASS) is delighted to announce the International Multidisciplinary Conference "Challenges of Contemporary Higher Education" (CCHE). The CCHE conference aims to bring together researchers, academics, and scholars from various scientific fields and disciplines to share their unique perspectives on the multifaceted challenges and opportunities in contemporary higher education. The conference will be held in Kopaonik, Serbia, from January 29th until February 2nd in a hybrid form, providing the opportunity for researchers from around the world to participate.

U!REKA WAS SELECTED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO BECOME A EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY ALLIANCE

The Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance (U!REKA), coordinated by EURASHE member Metropolia UAS, is pleased to announce that its U!REKA SHIFT proposal has been selected by the European Commission for funding in the European Universities Initiative (EUI) call 2023. This means that U!REKA will become an official Erasmus+ co-funded European University Alliance, with an expanded partner network and a common vision of climate neutrality and beyond.
 
In January 2023, U!REKA submitted a bid for the EUI 2023 call, which aims to support ambitious collaboration between networks of institutions and external partners across their local ecosystems. We are delighted to announce that on 3 July, 2023, we were informed by the European Commission that our bid was successful.

DILLUGIS PROJECT WORKSHOP

On July 11 - 13, a workshop of the project DILLUGIS (Digital Labs & Lectures for Ukrainian, German & International Students) was held at the East Bavarian University Amberg-Weiden, which, under the support of DAAD, implements this project together with National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic'', Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Odesa State Agrarian University (Ukraine). The project is a part of the "Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis" initiative. The purpose of the event was to exchange experience on the implementation of digital technologies in professionally oriented study programs of higher education at universities in Germany and Ukraine.

2023 EUROPEAN QUALITY ASSURANCE FORUM

EQAF 2023 will explore QA policies and practices that support new forms of internationalisation and invite the audience to reflect on how quality assurance can meet emerging needs and arising challenges in the sector.

SPANISH PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU - PRIORITIES

Spain took over the presidency in the second half of 2023, from 1 July to 31 December. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has presented the priorities for this period, these being; reindustrialising the EU, making progress on ecological transition, social and economic justice and strengthening European unity are the four priorities of the Spanish presidency of the Council of the European Union.
