AFTERNOON DEBATE 'HIGHER EDUCATION IN EUROPE: PLAY TO WIN'
The afternoon debate ' Higher Education in Europe: Play to Win' will take place on the 29th of April 2019 from 14:30 to 18.00 at the European Parliament and will be a privileged occasion for Higher education professionals and students to share their experiences, visions, and ideas on the future and the role of higher education.

PEER LEARNING ACTIVITY ON TEACHING AND LEARNING IN WARSAW
A reversed peer learning activity on Learning and Teaching in Professional Higher Education (PHE) was organised jointly by EURASHE, European representation of PHE and its Polish member, the Conference of Rectors of State Schools of Higher Vocational Education in Poland (KRePUZ) in Warsaw on March 8, 2019 in Warsaw. The event brought together 27 representatives of academics, students, employers and policy experts from Poland and other European countries including 5 national and 3 international experts who contributed to the interactive discussions. The event focused on learning and teaching agenda within professional higher education with emphasis on the following issues:

·       Future challenges of the labour market
·       Digitalisation and digital transformation of PHE institutions
·       Integration of academic and profession-oriented elements into programmes of PHE, learning outcomes and transversal skills and competences
·       Learning methodology supporting professional character, work-based learning elements and links between students’ learning and research activities.

UAS4EUROPE CONFERENCE 2019: WHAT ARE THE FUTURE SCENARIOS FOR APPLIED RESEARCH IN EUROPE?
Brussels What are the opportunities offered by current and future European research and innovation programmes for universities of applied sciences (UAS) in Europe? How can they successfully participate? More than 170 participants from 20 European countries came to Brussels on April 2, 2019 for the conference ' Beyond Horizons. The Future of Applied Research in Europe'  to receive answers to these questions and search opportunities for new partnerships.

EGAS MONIZ HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOOL JOINS EURASHE AS A FULL MEMBER
EURASHE members’ community is getting bigger –  Egas Moniz Higher Education School  from Caparica, Portugal became the 63rd member of the organisation.

Egas Moniz, CRL is a reference in Health education in Portugal. The two institutions of the School, IUEM and ESSEM, currently have about 2500 students and over 400 faculty members and can offer undergraduate, master’s and PhD degrees and other postgraduate courses in the health area. The mission of the institution: “dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, learning and education of students, at the service of the health improvement of global society in the 21st century”.

Currently, EURASHE has 63 members which represent more than 650 higher education institutions around the world. Last year EURASHE joined three new members from Germany, Kosovo and the Netherlands.

UALL WORK AND LEARNING NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019: CALL FOR PAPERS
Our member Universities Association for Lifelong Learning (UALL) organises its Annual Conference and invites to submit papers until 26 April, 2019.

The Annual Conference named ‘Learning for, at and through work: capturing workplace learning for transformative Higher Education’ will take place 28 June, 2019 in London and will focus on the ways to structure and apply flexibility to empower all work-based learning stakeholders to share implicit and explicit responsibility for new learning that maintains work-life balance and well-being.

EC REPORT ON ON THE IMPACT OF THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON EU LABOUR MARKETS
The High-Level Expert Group on the Impact of the Digital Transformation on EU Labour Markets, created by the European Commission in May 2018, published its final report with the recommendations including policy actions for the European Union, Member States, businesses and other stakeholders in the short, mid and long-term, to shape the digital transformation of the world of work and make it smooth, inclusive and human-centric.
