The largest military re-enactment in New England— will return to Old Sturbridge Village, transforming the Village Common will into a military camp from the time of the War for Independence and showcasing what it was really like for those who fought to win America’s freedoms—and for those they fought against.
Redcoats and Rebels brings together hundreds of costumed Revolutionary War re-enactors will set up camp at the Village, portraying both soldiers and civilians from the time of the war. Visitors can explore exhibits, galleries, and demonstrations, see special presentations, talk with costumed historians about everyday life in early New England, and enjoy fife and drum music. Furthermore, they can learn of soldiers’ and civilians’ motivations for joining the war and their individual roles, tour the camps, and witness recreated skirmishes and battles.
