NFA administrators, teachers, and current and former students attested to the impact these programs have on students’ engagement in school, academic performance, and career prospects. “You all are just demonstrating the power of smart investment as well as really smart partnerships,” Acting Secretary Su declared. 2024 Summer Youth Employment Program

Within the next few weeks, EWIB and its partners will begin accepting applications for the 2024 CT Youth Employment Program (CYEP), which launches in July. The CYEP provides paid work experience, career pathways exploration, and work readiness training to prepare youth ages 14-24 to become successful and sustained members of our region’s future labor force. We urge our local legislators to protect the CYEP’s FY25 funding allocation so we can serve more youth of the hundreds of youth who comprise our wait list each year. An early confirmation of the CYEP’s FY25 funding level will also allow sufficient planning time to effectively deliver the program to 500+ youth at ~150 worksites spanning EWIB’s 1,400 square-mile service area. Click here for an overview of the statewide 2023 CYEP and click here for a recent EASTCONN op-ed which quotes EWIB President/CEO Michael Nogelo citing the CYEP as part of the solution to our region’s disconnected youth crisis.
