The Brotherhood of St. Andrew
Devotional Handbook
The 24th Edition 2018 of the Devotional Handbook has been revised and is scheduled for printing this spring. Below are some of the major components of the current and pending revised handbook.
The Brotherhood Collect observing the Great Commission
Lord Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save the lost and who is the way by whom all must go who come to the Father: Grant that we may be your witnesses in the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of your continual presence, going to all people everywhere, making them your disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that you have commanded us.

Past President's Prayers
Here is a prayer that Past President Bob Dennis penned.
My Good Shepherd Prayer
My Lord and Savior is my Shepherd, and there is no one else that I would want.
I turn to him as I look to greener pastures, and ask him to calm the troubled waters in my life.
He restores my well-being, in the midst of my worries and any anxiety I allow myself to feel.
He is with me as I travel in the valley of darkness of life, and under His care He removes my fears.
I can now say get behind me Satan, as the Devil lurks around me, stealing and deceiving me with false evidence that too often seems real.
There is joy in Heaven when I turn to my Lord for His grace and mercy, giving me the joy that I seek.
Thank you for being my Shepherd and leading me where you want me to go. I praise your Holy Name. Amen.

Brotherhood Hymns
"We have all felt it. Few things in the world are as powerful as music. It is a driving force behind culture & community. It motivates us, empowers us, accepts us & changes us. Being impacted by music is an incredible experience!"
- Music Mentors Online
Many chapters enjoy the opportunity to include music/hymns in their chapter meeting or events. Certainly, music and singing add to meetings. Traditionally, the hymn of the Brotherhood is "Jesus calls us; o'er the tumult" #549 and #550 in 1982 Hymnal.

We would like to know if your chapter includes music in events and what tunes you use. We know that some chapters like and use the hymn "Throw out a lifeline, there is someone to save."

Another hymn used on St. Andrew's Day is "When Christ our Lord to Andrew Cried."

Tell us how you use the music in your chapter activities.

Evangelism
The Opening Prayer from our Devotional Handbook
As our Lord and Master Jesus Christ suffered death upon the cross that all who came after him should have light, we dedicate ourselves anew to the purpose of the Brotherhood, the spread of Christ's kingdom, especially among men and youth, not by our might but by the power of God's Spirit

Evangelism
The Brotherhood Collect
Almighty God, who gave such grace to your apostle Andrew, that he readily obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ, and brought his brother with him: Give us, who are called by your Holy Word, grace to follow him without delay, and to bring those near to us into his gracious presence; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen

Spiritual Gift Assessment
God has given every Christian
at least one spiritual gift!
Do you know what is yours?
If you don't know or it has been a while since you thought about the spiritual gift(s) that God may have given to you, The Brotherhood invites you to invest a few minutes to find out. The two main purposes of spiritual gifts are to equip God's people to do His work in and through us (Eph. 4:7-12) and to serve people (1 Peter 4:10).
Spiritual gifts are best discerned through seeking God in prayer, the Word, and the affirmation of others. We pray this online assessment will be helpful to you. May God use this assessment as a tool to help you in that process of knowing how God created you to encourage the people of God with the gifts of the Spirit of God working in and through you!
Finally, once you take the spiritual gift assessment there will be a description of the spiritual gifts.
Take the assessment by clicking here.
