Getting ready for the YMCA Youth in Government Conference

These students will represent us April 11-14 in Nashville!
Way to go, DeCharius, Taiya, Daniel, Tytianna and Jacob!
We’re hosting a Facing History Teach-in at East on April 11th at 5:30pm. Student leaders will lead us in a discussion about creating momentum for social change and strategies to use when faced with an injustice.

We need your support!

Facing History caters Girabaldi’s for the event. That’s right- come support our student leaders and feed your family for free! Please consider coming with your East student and entire family. We’d love to have a multi-generational crowd; that is part of the magic of such discussions!

Many teachers will be offering extra credit for students who attend and bring an adult.
The basketball team that wins together,
does community service together!
Our boys basketball team participated in an event to recognize students at Crump Elementary who had perfect attendance. These boys are rock stars!

Come out Saturdays 4:00-6:00 to watch our Ultimate Frisbee Team have some fun and work hard!

Spotlight of the Week
Ms. Marilyn Coleman
I graduated from Douglass High School as a junior. I joined the military when I was 17 years old and after graduation I was stationed in Fort Lee Virginia for training. After the military, I joined the Memphis Police Department and continued to serve my community for 28.5 more years. During one-third of that time I worked as an officer in the schools. I have also been a substitute teacher for the last six years. I retired from MPD July 2018. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Memphis and a Masters in Business Administration from Christian Brothers University. I am fulfilling my dreams of teaching Business Ed. I have always had a passion for children and I believe in helping our students achieve their goals.

The BEST students deserve the BEST Teachers... we are waiting for you next year!

Welcome, Incoming Freshmen!
