I really do not want to bombard you with too many newsletters, but at the moment so much is happening. Courses are looming, our Music and Art Festival is only weeks away, exhibitions visited need sharing, not to mention all that is happening in the garden. I am not sure what to do next to be perfectly honest with you. So much so, that I am starting to dither, so I thought I would focus my attention and drop you a newsletter.

So let me start with two exhibtions, but for one of them you need to be quick as it ends tomorrow. This first exhibition is retrospective from Linda and Laura Kemshall and some of Lauras students. If you are a keen quilter it is well worth a visit. Here is a LINK

The second exhibition is at MID-WALES ARTS CENTRE, which is a wonderful place to visit. The exhibition is called:

VULGAR EARTH ~ The Lie of the Land

Sunday, 18 May, - Sunday, 6 July, 2025

An exhibition of contemporary art, in painting, sculpture and mixed media. 13 independent artists from the Vulgar Earth Collective explore ‘the lie of the land’. "Where we see ourselves today, concepts of our land, our place in it and it’s place in our consciousness.”

I happened to be there when the exhibition was still in the throws of being set-up, but was made so welcome by Cathy Knapp the owner of the centre which is also the home to the collection of her late husband STEFAN KNAPP a renowned Polish painter and sculptor.

It is well worth a vist and serves great coffee and cakes, which are all homemade.

JENNY O'LEARY

Inspired by artist John Piper

contemporary batik on paper & fabric

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO BOOK ON EITHER OF THESE COURSES

Jenny is returning to Moor Hall for another exciting workshop on 'her take' using batik. This is not the traditional method but a way that Jenny has discovered for herself and it has wonderful results. She will be taking John Piper as her springboard and she know that you will find plenty of inspiration using his work as a source.

Jenny has been teaching up and down the country for many years now and is a very organised and inspirational teacher, and allows enough space for students to experiment and play with the ideas.

An achievable course for the total beginners, but also with plenty of opportunity for those with experience to develop new ways of working.

These following images are from her students on a recent course.
