Fire Bans in Effect Across Muskoka

The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating is set to EXTREME and a TOTAL FIRE BAN remains in effect for all of Muskoka including Lake of Bays and Huntsville. Burning infractions are subject to fines.

This means:

• NO fires of any type are permitted.
• NO fireworks are allowed.
• All current fire permits are suspended.

NO fires of any type includes, camp fires, charcoal barbeques, woodfired pizza ovens, fireplaces, candles, torches – anything with the chance of a spark. Remember that sparks can travel distances and fire can spread through the ground.

With the lack of rain, heat and wind conditions the threat for fire to become established and spread quickly is very high, as our neighbours in the Kawarthas are finding.

This is a good time to give the vegetation around your property a good watering – not only to reduce the potential for fire but to keep your trees healthy.
