EYC Newsblast, July 7 - 18, 2021
Greetings, EYC members!
Other than out on the water, can you think of a better place to be? If you've been out racing, cruising, or otherwise, you can place a meal order until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and until 9 p.m. on Sundays. Seating on the open and bar decks, on the lawn and in the bar does not require a reservation! Your reservations are still encouraged for the dining room and dining room deck.

On Wednesday, Chef Jermaine refreshes the Weekly Specials, on top of the regular menu. Full food service, including specials, is available Wednesday - Friday 5 - 9:30 p.m. (beverage service starting at 4 p.m.); Saturday noon - 9:30 p.m.; Sunday (including brunch!), 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. .

It's TOWING SEASON
The pressure is on! Don't chance being towed. Please don't be caught in the EYC lot without your 2021 EYC parking sticker on your windshield. Need another? Buy one from the office.
Chesapeake Stand-Up Challenge
East of Maui – EYC Chesapeake Stand-Up Challenge: This Saturday, 8 am - 1 pm. This an open water race set in Annapolis Harbor and the mouth of the Severn River sponsored by East of Maui and Eastport Yacht Club. Live music will be provided by Doug Segree between10am and 1pm, and food will be available to purchase. Even if you do not want to participate in the race, come to the club and be a spectator! What a great way to enjoy a summer morning with a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, cheering on your favorite SUP racer(s), and listening to the tunes of one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most sought after performers
EYC Boomerang, July 11 - 12
The regatta party is back! It's not too late to register to race in our annual overnight distance race, the EYC Boomerang, starting in front of EYC on Saturday evening, July 11. And finishing in front of EYC in the wee hours of Sunday. Race entry deadline is Thursday, July 8

Followed by a party on the lawn, from breakfast through lunch, with live music from Second Story! Not racing? Volunteer to help out.
Summer Concert with Sweet Leda
Our third concert of the series will be on July 17 at 6pm with Sweet Leda!  Check out Sweet Leda’s website for more information about their “rich blend of new school funk, psychedelic rock, soul and pop” style https://sweetleda.com/. Table seating will be first come first serve, bring lawn chairs and plan to arrive early to get a good spot.
Friday Family Fun!
Green Fleet Fridays continue through August 13, and we'd love to see more child skipper/parent crew teams! GFF is open to all students, junior alumni, parents, and members. Sailors in the current week have first priority. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who have been helping on the docks and to put boats away -- it takes a village! Contact waterfront@eastportyc.org for more information and to reserve a boat.
Adult Sailing Lessons
The new round of Tuesday Evening Adult Sailing session starts July 13! We have one spot for Beginner J/22 Basic Keelboat and/or join us for Dinghy Sailing on the Zests and Sunfish. Reminder: sailors can add on a US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification. Team Racing and Advanced Sailing continues on Monday nights. Sign up for Practice Check out all the Adult Sailing opportunities.
Valhalla Sailing Project
Valhalla Sailing Project is jumping back into action bringing Veterans to EYC to learn to sail and build a new family through the sport! With record participation lined up for the weekend of July 17-18, Valhalla is looking for J/80, J/30, J/35, and J/105 owners to come in and take Veterans out and help coach (curriculum provided). If you are interested in volunteering, feel free to reach out to Mike Wood, Katie Freeman, or Jay McGinnis (all EYC members) for more information.

Super Sale July 24 & 25
We are clearing our inventory to make way for new stuff! Join us on Saturday, July 24, 5 – 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 25, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. for our Super Sale, with big markdowns on everything you want for summer and beyond. Clothing, housewares, gifts, all at great prices while inventory lasts.

Dirty Happy Hour, or Muddy Brunch?
They are both great! Join the EYC Brown Thumbs for some light yard work, then ditch the gloves and grab a table to sip and socialize. Get-togethers are a few times each month, keeping the club gardens looking good. Check out the schedule, and sign up for one date or three... then come get dirty!
EYC Plays Croquet: Family Style!
Tuesday, July 13
Bring the whole family and join the Tuesday Night Croquet fun next week! This evening will be specially geared to including our younger members and introducing them to the fun of croquet on the lawn. Come on down for Family Croquet Night, Tuesday, July 13, starting at 6 p.m. and join us for a swinging good time!
This (Birthday) Cake's for You
Is your birthday in July? Why should kids have all the fun (and cake)? Come celebrate with friends (and cake) on Sunday, July 18, starting at 2 p.m.

Can I Call You a ... LYFT?
Long day on the water, or too sleepy to drive? Speak to the Manager on Duty and we'll call a Lyft for you. The Lyft fare will appear on your regular billing statement and you will have a safe way home that is seamless.
Although the rules for COVID safety have been relaxed, some regulations are still in place at this time. Please remember:

  • Masks or face coverings are required to be worn by anyone not fully vaccinated over the age of 5 at all times inside the clubhouse, except when seated at your table.
  • Got guests? Please be sure to sign them in! The guest book is located upstairs next to the elevator, and another can be found adjacent to the Aft Deck bar when it's open.

NEW: Secure Drop Box for Your Convenience
Got stuff to drop off at the office (dues payments, forms, etc.) but don't want to come inside? Now there's a new locked and secure drop box just to the left of the front door, so feel free to drop off important items after hours or without entering the building.
