Dear Friends,

I write to you on Day Two of my ten-week stint as acting Rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Having promised Imogen that I would egregiously abuse my new powers, I'm hereby directing the EYC to colonize the choir room and hang basketball hoops in Shepherd's Hall. Next, I'm selling the church's naming rights to Red Hat.

After many delays, the spring EYC schedule is now complete. It is full of beloved traditions, interesting programs, exciting trips, and some brand new service opportunities. Look for a hard copy in your mailbox soon.

February will begin with a regular EYC meeting this coming Sunday night, followed by the return of the Fee Family Super Bowl Party, and then our Winter Retreat at the Trinity Center. Registration for that event is open for one more week. We'll close out the winter with our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on March, 4, 2025.

I am also excited to announce that we will be offering a Lenten Series this spring. During this holy season, our teenagers will be introduced to some of the major social service organizations currently operating in Raleigh, include some supported by CGS. We will visit A Place at the Table, welcome speakers from Urban Ministries and the Women's Crisis Center, and learn how the work of regular people transforms the lives of so many of our neighbors in need. This series will culminate with the first of three upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Helen Wright Center.

EYC Super Bowl Party

After being on hiatus for several years, the Fee Family is once again hosting the EYC Super Bowl Party at their Oakwood home.

On Sunday, February 9th, all members of the Episcopal Youth Community and their families are invited to a thrilling night of football, wings, Doritos commercials, choreographed end-zone celebrations, tush pushes, SZA, cutaways to Taylor Swift, Pat Mahomes' weird little walk, intrusive political content, Kendrick Lamar's gloves, officiating conspiracy theories, and the game no one in America wanted.

Don't care for football? No worries. There will be plenty of food, games, and fellowship to keep you entertained.

The Fee's live at 624 N East Street near the Krispy Creme. The festivities begin at 5:30pm and won't end until some jerk hoists the Lombardi trophy. See you there.

EYC Winter Retreat

On February 14-16, all members of the EYC are warmly invited to our Winter Retreat at the Trinity Center on the South Outer Banks. Situated on sixty-two gorgeous acres nestled between the ocean and the sound, this island refuge is truly one of the gems of the Episcopal Church.

The Trinity Center boasts pristine beaches, peaceful hiking trails, and cozy cabins tucked beneath a canopy of live oak trees.

Our only agenda for the weekend is community building so its perfect for new and established group members alike.

The deadline to get registered for this event is Tuesday, February 4.

If you would like to make an online payment to the Episcopal Youth Community fund, visit the Good Shepherd website and click the "Donate" button. You can use Realm or Donor Box. Make sure your donation is set to go to the EYC fund and write the name of the event in the memo line.
