EYC Newsletter

Dear Friends,

"Something about the ocean,

and I'm lost in love again."

Our first EYC Winter Retreat is in the books and I think everyone who attended would agree that it was a tremendous success.

So many great memories: bocce ball on the beach, Hamilton sing-alongs, the "Kidnapper," Kumja, side quests, Juliet's crazy ghost stories, morning devotionals on the dock, Battle Toes, candy salad, and of course, the blanket that gives the divine mystery a shape.

This trip was tons of fun while also being deeply spiritual and a intense bonding experience for our community. I think it will have a powerful affect on the direction of our youth program in the future.

I want to thank Ed Sharp and Tristin Carpenter for serving as our brave chaperones. I really enjoyed sharing this experience with you and look forward to having you join us again. I also want to thank all the young people who risked trying something new. You were endlessly cheerful and always game for everything I threw at you. I was especially moved by how much you clearly care for one another. You all make this job a real joy.

See you down the road Trinity Center. I think it safe to say that we'll be back.

Your friend in Christ,

Justin+

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

The Great Fast of Lent is almost upon us. But before we take the plunge, let's enjoy one last night of indulgence. The annual EYC Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on March 4th from 6:00-7:30pm.

Join us in Shepherd's Hall for a night of music, fellowship, and enough pancakes and bacon to keep us all satisfied for forty days and forty nights.

The annual Pancake Supper is one of the two signature fundraisers for the youth program at CGS. This year, I'm inviting our youth to take a greater role in hosting this event.

We will begin by decorating Shepherd's Hall during our March 2nd EYC meeting. Then, on the day of the event, the group will take the lead in preparing the food, serving our guests, and cleaning up.

The link to volunteer is below. There are plenty of jobs for parents and youth alike. We are expecting a big turnout from the congregation so we will need all the help we can get. I hope you and your family will all plan to attend.
