EYE20 Cancelled: Plans for EYEx Underway
September 14, 2020

We hope this email finds you and your loved ones well and in good spiritual and physical health during this most challenging time.

As you may have heard by now, EYE20 has been cancelled for this triennium. Organizers had hoped that it could be rescheduled for 2021, but with COVID-19 still very active, a decision was made to cancel it for this triennium. In The Episcopal Church's official announcement, they add:
In coming months, the Department of Faith Formation anticipates offering an alternative means of responding to God's call to “Unite/Uninamos,” which was the planned theme for EYE20. Titled Episcopal Youth Experience or EYEx, the content will be planned and implemented by an EYEx Steering Committee, made up of youth and adults from the EYE20 planning team and the Youth Ministry Council of Advice. - Bronwyn Clark Skov, Mission for Faith Formation, The Episcopal Church
Diocesan Youth Update:
In the meantime, your Diocesan Youth Ministry Design Team is working on new ways to engage all of our youth during these times when physical interaction is restricted. Some churches are holding regular online gatherings and our Youth and Young Adult Missioner, the Rev. Jar Pasalo, is holding an online weekly Compline every Thursday night at 8:00 PM (all invited). If you and your youth group have any ideas or would like to join in with others, please let Fr. Jar or the Design Team know so that we can get folks connected.

Listed below are a few youth activities taking place around the Diocese right now. Activities will also be listed on our Diocesan Youth webpage HERE. If your church would like to add any youth events and activities, please contact us HERE and provide details.
Thursday Compline 8:00 PM
Every Thursday night at 8:00 PM, Fr. Jar leads Compline on the Episcopal Youth of Hawai'i Facebook page. He welcomes others (youth and adults) to lead Compline. Click HERE to get in touch with Fr. Jar, and click on the image for Compline to go to the Episcopal Youth of Hawai'i Facebook page.
EAM/ACAM Zoom Gatherings for Youth & Young Adults
Beginning on Sunday, September 20, 2020, and every third Sunday of the month thereafter, the Episcopal Asiamerican Ministry (EAM) and Anglican CanAsian Ministry (ACAM), will be hosting a Zoom gathering for all youth and young adults. In Hawai'i, the time will be at 12:00 noon. Because this is very new, all participants are asked to RSVP to organizer, Carolyn Morinishi, who will then provide the connection information.

Although EAM includes ethnicities of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islanders, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ASIAN to join in the fun and online games! Click on the buttons shown for more information and to RSVP.
West Side Youth Wa'a Pizza Gatherings
Fr. Mark Haworth leads this vibrant group from churches on West O'ahu, but all youth are welcome to join in on their weekly Zoom gatherings, every Friday at 6:30 PM. To connect with the group, contact Fr. Mark HERE for Zoom details... and maybe even pizza?
Good Shepherd Maui Compline on Wednesdays
Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM, the youth of Good Shepherd lead Compline live on Facebook. The Cajical family provides great music! To join live or watch at any time afterwards, go to the Good Shepherd Facebook page HERE.
God of all generations, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Strengthen and uphold the youth ministry of the Diocese of Hawai‘i. Be present in the lives of the youth and the youth leaders throughout our congregations and ministries. Give us your vision for a youth community knit together as one: inspired, nourished, and empowered by your grace and truth. Fill us with your abiding love and aloha, and guide our Diocese as we walk as one ʻohana, all generations together, and for all generations to come. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Wash your hands, wear a mask, social distance!
Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep praying!
