WHAT'S ON OUR MIND

Who watched the GOP convention this week? Yes, it was painful. Yes, it was disgusting. Yes, it was frightening. But it was necessary. Nothing should light a fire under us to work harder to elect a Democratic president and Congress than witnessing their grotesque spectacle.

Their agenda was on full, garish display. We heard them proudly boast of their hate and their plans to melt away our democracy and rights. For three nights, they spewed lies and engaged in profound fear-mongering to stir and charge up their base and a call to action.

We now have a national emergency. We need to elect JAC candidates who will restore our rights and protect the values we hold sacred.

DONATE HERE.

We barely survived this first Trump administration and Congress. This time, it will be worse. Trump and his cronies have had four years to polish their message and hone their dark political skills. While we ponder our convention and Democratic nominee, we consecrate them to grow stronger and bolder.

The conspiracy theories promoted at the convention further erode the pillars of our institutions that hold up our democracy. Delegates wearing fake bandages on their ears, decorated with the American flag, mock the more than 100,000 people injured each year from gunfire. JD Vance boasting about the unlocked, loaded guns is a dagger to the hearts of parents who have lost children to unsecured guns in the home.

The GOP spelled out their blueprint for winning in November: divide America at all costs. Trump’s talk about unity and “toning down” the rhetoric is just more lies to add to his growing resume.

Our democracy is at risk, and the convention made that painfully clear. If we let this moment slip by and do not act, our nation will be guided by Project 2025 rather than the Constitution. It doesn’t matter what the GOP has dropped from its platform. There will be no surprises if we lose in November. They painted for us that dark, dusty picture of America we will live in for generations to come. They told us loudly and clearly in their own words.

We cannot let the Statue of Freedom, which sits majestically on top of the Capitol dome, be our only reminder of what this country once was. If we are united and committed, we can win in November. We have no other choice.

Elections have consequences.
