WHAT'S ON OUR MIND

President Joe Biden showed the United States' unwavering commitment to Israel with his visit there this week, meeting with Israeli officials, families, and first responders. Support for Israel also goes far beyond our community. A recent poll finds that nearly half of U.S. adult citizens say they are sympathetic toward the Israelis in this conflict.

On the home front, JAC continues to have conversations with Members of Congress, urging them to support Israel and to fight back against the antisemitism that is rising from the war. Some have also reached out to us offering words of support and asking what they can do. At times like this, we need friends in Congress who are on our side with Israel. JAC has worked tirelessly to help elect pro-Israel candidates, who also share our other values.

Please continue to make calls to your Members of Congress. Thank them for their support and urge them to continue to stand strong with Israel.

JAC candidates have been speaking out loudly in favor of Israel. Below are some of the statements they have recently made.

We continue to pray for the safe release of all hostages and for the moment when peace and calm to return to Israel. The entire state of Israel continues to be in our hearts. (Click on the names below to donate to these candidates.)

Sen. Bob Casey (PA)

“…we’ve seen abhorrent statements from college students to elected officials blaming Israel for the murderous actions of Hamas. The United States stands with Israel as it responds to this attack by working to destroy Hamas.”

Sen. Sherrod Brown (OH)

“I want to be clear: Israel has the right to exist and the right to self-defense. I will keep working in a bipartisan way to ensure that Israel has the resources to defend itself and that the United States is doing everything we can to support our ally.”

Sen. Jacky Rosen (NV)

“At a time of rising global antisemitism, these attempts to portray this assault as justified resistance or create false equivalencies between these terrorists and the Israeli people’s right to defend themselves are deeply offensive, dangerous, and unacceptable.

Rep. Shontel Brown (OH)

“I am appalled by and strongly condemn the terror attacks by Hamas against Israel… The United States must continue to stand with Israel in its defense.”

Rep. Angie Craig (MN)

“There are no two sides here – the U.S. must do everything in our power to support our ally and fight back against terrorism.”

Rep. Yadira Caraveo (CO)

The terrorist actions of Hamas must be condemned in the strongest terms.… the United States stands solidly behind the Israeli people and all who have been impacted.”

THE LAST WORD

"American leadership is what holds the world together. Our alliances are what keep us safe. And our values are what make us a partner that other nations want to work with. We put all of that at risk if we walk away from Ukraine or turn our back on Israel."

President Joe Biden
