Synod Assembly: June 3-4, 2023 + Holiday Inn, Fargo


Registration is open for Synod Assembly! This year’s theme will be “EQUIP,” and the theme scripture passage is Ephesians 4:12. Synod Assembly will begin on Saturday, June 3 and will end on Sunday, June 4.  Find event details and registration info here.

Food For All Block Party

Saturday, June 3, 6-8pm

Bethlehem Lutheran Church


Join the Advocacy & Action team for a neighborhood block party benefiting rural hunger ministries! This event will take place in connection with the Synod Assembly, but is open to all.


+ Food Trucks: Come enjoy Mexican, Indigenous, and French food

+ Dunk Tank: Help raise money for hunger programs by dunking some of your favorite synod representatives!

+ Fill the Bishop’s Car Food Drive: Bring non-perishable food items to help us fill up the Bishop’s car. Food will be donated to local hunger programs

+ Local Hunger Ministry Booths

+ Petting Zoo 

+ Music


All proceeds will be shared with rural hunger ministries around the synod! Join us in supporting and celebrating hunger ministries across our synod!

Joint Theological Day + April 27, 2023


The Eastern North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota Synods invite all lay and rostered ministers to this year’s Joint Theological Day. It will take place at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks from 10am – 3pm. Register by April 17!


The Rev. Dr. Shauna Hannan, Professor of Homiletics at PLTS, will be presenting “The Peoples’ Sermon: Revitalizing your Congregation’s Preaching Ministry” based off her recent book. Dr. Hannan describes her presentation in this way: "Preaching is an ecclesial practice that belongs to the whole congregation and not only to the preacher. This workshop aims to equip you to equip all the baptized to fulfill their roles as proclaimers of God’s good news. Understanding and engaging the collaborative nature of preaching holds the potential to revitalize your preaching and your congregation’s participation in this important practice. Participants will leave with concrete possibilities for engaging a collaborative preaching ministry in their own contexts."

Join us for the second of our Vital Church Conversations! This session will focus on how we show up as leaders in our contexts and how to navigate and manage systems in order to foster healthier conversation and communities.

Together we explore:

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
  • Systems
  • Managing Groups
  • Navigating hard conversations.


This event is geared towards congregational teams, councils or staffs, but is open to individual registrations. Included in the registration is lunch and a follow up session June 2nd, building on the strategies engaged in the first session. Register by April 25!

Centennial Celebration &

Companion Synod Visit


2023 marks the centennial anniversary of the Sudan Mission- the arrival of the first missionaries to the area that is now the Central African Republic and Cameroon. An centennial celebration and visits to companion synods in the US are planned as part of this commemoration and on-going partnership. 


Members and friends of the Eastern North Dakota Synod are invited to participate in the Centennial Celebration planned for July 7-9 in Minneapolis. In addition, the Eastern North Dakota Synod will host two guests from the Central African Republic: Rev. Ngoe Jean, President of the ELC-RCA, and Ms. Francine Grace Yaimann, women’s representative of the ELC-RCA. Guests will be present in the synod June 2-13.

Let this gathering be an opportunity for you to remember, reclaim, rekindle and revive yourself. Earth Day Worship Service



Lutherans Restoring Creation has put together a special creation-focused worship service for Earth Day. You are invited to incorporate parts of this service into services in your own context, or you may simply join the livestreamed service on April 22. Rev. Dr. Guy Erwin will be preaching.

Dakota Wesleyan University's Practical Church Leadership Program is a "21-graduate credit hour, online, certificate program for working ministry leaders that builds acumen in financial development, governance, talent management, project management and communications."
