A Message from Dr. Harris
Dear Selwyn Parents,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer break. I have received many questions about the difference between the Plan B + Remote and the Full Remote Academy. This message is to provide some clarity about that choice for teaching and learning this fall.
The remote teaching and learning plan will be very different this fall than last spring. We will operate a remote learning schedule much like a normal school day, but shortened for appropriate screen time. Teachers will be required to conduct live teaching and learning for each content each day through a highly organized and structured learning platform. Our plan for teaching and learning moving forward will be robust and engaging.
The CMS Full Remote Academy is an option for the full remote learning this fall and uses the same curriculum platform and teaching and learning times as our Selwyn plan. However, student numbers and teacher availability will drive the process. I cannot guarantee a Selwyn teacher under the current Full Remote Academy model. I would only suggest you consider the
Full Remote Academy if your child has a health condition placing them in a high health risk category and he/she will not be able to return to school at all this school year. Please know your initial commitment to the Full Remote Academy is for the first semester. You will not be able to change that decision until the end of the semester.
If you are concerned about the in-person orientation days in August, your child may choose to not attend those days but remain in his or her schedule with grade-level teachers at Selwyn in a remote learning environment. Your child will be marked absent if he/she does not come to school during the orientation days. Please know you may always choose the Full Remote Academy option in the future if we move to an in-person learning model this school year.
If you would like to choose the Plan B + Remote, no action is needed. If you wish to enroll in the CMS Full Remote Academy, register at

CMS will communicate additional details about the plan in the coming days and weeks. I encourage our parents and families to update their contact information with our school to ensure you receive this timely information.
