Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Selwyn will be hosting our second annual Grandparents/Special Friend Day on Friday, February 14 from 9:30 – 11:00 am (check-in starts at 9:00 am in the gym). If only visiting one child, please plan to come to session 2, which starts at 9:45 am.

Please note that parking will be challenging and it is highly recommended to drop off your special friend or suggest they Uber. A photo ID is required!

Volunteers are needed to make this special event successful. If you can help, please sign up.

Building Blocks

Invest in Selwyn!

Our annual Building Blocks campaign kicked off last week and runs for the month of February .   This year we are hoping to raise enough money to purchase new playground equipment for the track playground and complete Phase II of our Makerspace Lab!

Any family that donates $1,000 or more will join Selwyn’s Eagle’s Nest and have the option to have their name placed on a permanent plaque in the school.

This week, the class with the highest participation will receive an ice cream party!

Next week, the two classes in K-2 with the most participation will earn a crazy hat day and the two classes in 3-5 with the most participation will get to attend the Checkers Power Play School Program here at Selwyn. They will win Checkers tickets, get some swag and learn about living a healthy lifestyle with a visit from two Checkers players.

DONATE NOW   online through PayPal or complete the form that will be sent home with your child’s folder next week.

Need more info?  Please reach out to Jennifer and Steven Whitworth (2019-2020 Building Blocks Capital Campaign Co-Chairs).

Health and Wellness Tip

Healthy Tip for Flu Season:

Keeping your child's immune system strong is an important way to stay healthy and ward off illness during the school year. Getting enough sleep, maintaining a healthy diet, managing stress, exercising, and emphasizing hand washing can reduce your child's risk of getting colds, flu, and other infections.

Healthy habits such as remembering not to keep touching their eyes, or refraining from sharing cups and utensils with friends are also important. Lastly, taking vitamin C & D supplements as well as a good probiotic and elderberry syrup regularly can help maintain a strong immune system.
