IMPORTANT: Information from CMS

Full Remote Academy (FRA) versus In-Person
  • Requests for pre-K – 12th grade students to switch between in-person and FRA for second semester will continue to be collected at the school level; families who wish to transfer into in-person instruction from the FRA or who wish to enroll students currently assigned to in-person learning to the FRA for the second semester must notify their school in writing by November 30, 2020.
  • For families who have already been notified by their school of the school’s process for collecting this information, please follow the process provided by the school.
Transportation Enrollment for Second Semester (begins January 5, 2021)
  • Families must inform the district about students’ transportation needs for the second semester. An enrollment form is posted on the CMS website HERE and will be posted on school websites. Families will need their student ID number to complete the transportation enrollment form.
  • The transportation choice will last throughout the second semester and until the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
  • CMS needs to know the transportation needs for all students – grades pre-K – 12th grade whose families intend for them to attend school in-person during the second semester.
  • Specific note for current in-person Pre-K through 5th grade learners:
  • If your child has not ridden the bus as of November 20, 2020, and the transportation enrollment is not completed, we will remove your child’s name from the bus roster and they will not receive a bus stop assignment for the second semester.
  • If your child does need transportation for second semester, you MUST complete the enrollment form indicating the need for transportation.

Health Tip
Handwashing 101

Keeping hands clean is especially important to keep the virus from spreading during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are differences between washing hands with soap and water and using hand sanitizer. Soap and water work to remove all types of germs from hands, while sanitizer acts by killing certain germs on the skin. Although alcohol-based hand sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of germs in many situations, they should be used in the right situations. Soap and water are more effective than hand sanitizers at removing certain types of germs as well as chemicals.

Teach kids the five easy steps for handwashing:
  • Wet your hands with clean running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap and apply soap.
  • Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  • Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song twice.
  • Rinse your hands under clean, running water.
  • Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
